the problem is with benitez is under him we are an ok team, not a great one

when we won the champs league it was amazing but we did ride our luck, we never destroyed the top teams and were nowhere near the out right best

same as the fa cup final, we were 2-0 down to an average team and were saved by gerrards roy of the rovers strike...we hardley won it at a canter

and under benitez we have never looked like premiership champions despite all the money he has spent

I'll bet there's nothing I can say that hasn't already been said.  Good to get it down though sometimes.

Walking back to my car after the game, I thought that it was a shame that Man City had won, that Steve Bennett is a complete cock for letting Brown get away with going round crunching our players left right and centre, he's also a cunt for getting 95% of the decisions wrong tonight, and that we had missed an opportunity again for what you would have described before the season started as three points banked before a ball had been kicked.

Now I'm thinking that we deserved nothing from the game anyway, taking away the points I've made above.  They were beyond our control above. 

• Finnan is finally looking his age.  Appears to have lost his sprint.  I know he set up the goal with the brilliant overlap but it was the only time he managed it the whole game. 
• Gerrard was a yard off the pace tonight.  Not used to seeing him like that and it obviously stands out a mile.  He wasn't involved at all considering his usual style is to boss the park.
• Harry Kewell was s*i*e.  And I'm a Kewell supporter.
• Aurelio's crosses and free kicks were poor all night.
• The fact that we played one up front at home against Wigan shows how much Rafa rates our other three strikers.
• If you are going to play with one up front, you NEED, NEED, NEED, NEED, NEED, to have wingers who are going to either supply decent crosses or support the striker by getting goals themselves.  Kewell and Pennant aren't those wingers.
• To let Titus Bramble score is a crime.

I hope the players go in tonight to their luxury flats and mansions feelng like utter shit.  They didn't even show up tonight.  Utter shit.  I'm very disappointed. 

That team we put out tonight wasn't even full of reserves or anything.  We were just shit.  Hate times like this, I like posting good, supportive stuff on here, I hate logging on to say we've played terribly. 

I've said enough.  Daryl Hannah and Uma Thurman are beating shit out of each other on BBC3.

I'm new here ... been a lurker for years but finally I thought I have to wade in and say what a disgrace some of you are here .

The sack rafa brigade needs to check themselves, FFS it is ONLY the answer if you can provide names of managers who will do better WITH THIS SQUAD... Any manager coming in will realise that rafa hasnt been asking for funds for no reason.

Bottom line is we still do NOT have the quality of the top 3, and unfortunately money talks in this league - we spent a shitload before this season, but that in all honesty was because thats what it took to get a world class striker in the squad - and one that i have no doubt will be leading goal scorer for years to come.

On todays game, FFS the last 2 games, the opposition has put everyone into the box and then just counterpunched us - we were unlucky and to sack rafa because of that is .
Don't tell me any of the top 3 would have broken down the defences over the last 2 games any better than we attempted - only differences is some like o'shea would have got a lucky knob on the ball and scored off a set piece ...

Anyway, go easy on me  I just think this sack talk has got to stop - and for the calling him a fat so and so, you should be red-carded and fark off as no real fan talks like that !

Excellent first post, and I agree with most of what you said. A lot of people, including myself, do tend to get p*ssed off at results like this, and Rafa more often than not, tends to be the easy and most logical person to target. But any rational person would sit and think for a few moments before spouting bollox as if it were gospel that Rafa is not good enough. Perhaps our teams isn't good enough, or maybe it is. Maybe we do need more luck, and if it's it is, then it's out of Rafa's hands. I personally direct most of my disgust at the likes of Rick Parry faster than I would at Rafa for the simple fact that the man has done more damage to the club than anyone since  Souness.

Who gives a f*ck how much Rafa has spent. IMO he hasn't spent enough. We're at least two big match winning players short of landing this league. Fact is, we have to spend to land these players. We don't have the clout of the talent spotting abilities that Arsenal and Wenger has boasted over the past decade, but nor have United or Chelsea. If it takes another 100 million to land the league and get us to the very top, so be it. So long as we get to the top and stay there, and I've every faith in Rafa that if we do, he'll keep us there.

As much as I admire Rafa. I think its time for him to "rotate" himself out of the club & find someone like Klinsmann or Mourhino who can break it at this high level.

Rafa has been given as much money as GH had and not challenged for the title, not even close, yeah the Champ League win was AWESOME and the FA cup was good but after 4 years in charge we should be a lot closer to the other three, the worrying thing for me is that since the Burnley game in his first season he doesn't seem to kill the smaller sides and rather than going out against sides at like Wigan at home and playing our game and making them worry about us we worry about them and setup negative sides.

Rafa needs to pull his f.ckin finger out otherwise he'll be on the dole come June!!!

It was 36 degrees Centigrade here today, quite oppressive. A mate from university who I havent seen for nearly 25 years passed thru town for 2 hours, glad to report he can still knock them back in fine fashion.
