it wouldnt be so bad if we were playing great attacking football and still coming up short

problem is we play ugly football and still come up short

believe it or not some people actually believe we play nice attractive football under Rafa.  We are not entertaining and the style is just huff and puff.  Without torres just where would we be in the league?

We just completely lack that killer instinct, that desire that comes from winning the league, to know what it takes and to get the results when it matters the most. The other three all have players who have that experience.

I am gutted we dropped more points tonight ( and not just because of my bet ). I was probably one of the few who never thought for one minute we would win it this year, head ruled heart, the gulf in class and match winners between ourselves and the other three is huge. We can kid ourselves that we are equal when we hold our own against them and then lose to a "Lucky goal" but that couldn't be further from the truth.

Getting rid of Rafa IMO is not the answer, we need to give him the funds to be able to match the teams the other three have, I am aware that the spending stats of the "Top Four" have been put up elsewhere but that means nothing when you compare the teams player to player with the rose tinted glasses off. We can say that the manager has had the money and spent it on players who are just not good enough, but can we honestly say that, apart from Torres any of the recent additions were his first choice ?

Give him the real money, let him buy the players he wants rather than the ones he can afford and give him the time and he will deliver number 19, just not this year.

Not sure if im jumping the gun but come on.... wigan. We are out of title race (should never say never but...). Just need to focus on getting in the top four again in premiership. I think we should stick with rafa find a replacement after this years champions league. If the premiership is what the club really wants even if rafa wins the champions league or is impressive as a coach through the cl they will still fire him after. Give time to find a good coach that will shake the team up for next season.

metalhead wrote:You blame the lineup? just the read the comments while back, they were saying with that lineup we should beat them, but hey ho thats football we didn't win why? not the line up, not negative tactics from rafa, ITS JUST WE ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH! some of our players are not good enough, crouch and kuyt wouldn't have made a difference if they came on 50th minute or 60th minute (maybe crouch), because they are not good enough. We lack quality.

i agree

more money?  So how do u explain the money spent on the kuyt's, crouch's, pennant's, Yossi's etc etc.  U can find good players (Wenger does it) for cheaper prices if u look in the right places.

The gap between us and the top sides will only get bigger.  Could finish 15 - 20 points behind the PL winners.

Rotating Rafa!!! Where was all our rested, rotated, fresh players today then!! Absolute :censored:, you try and keep supporting Rafa, but its getting harder by the match. He has rotated players since match one this season, too keep them fresh for times like xmas and where has it got him!! Rafa just does not understand the premiership one jot. Mourinio would have won the game today with the squad we have!! Crouch should have started tonight up front with Torres, Pennant should have been played against :censored: Luton, not tonight!!!

JoeTerp wrote:Absolutely dominated the game. Unlucky not to have gotten a 2nd. Poor clearance, but a lot of lucky bounces for Wigan, and Bramble !>?!? with that shot. If we win our game in hand, we are 9 points off Arsenal, 7 back of United and 3 off of Chelsea. Granted, it would require some heck of a change in the way we are playing, but I am not going to write off the season. Winning the title, probably too far off, but possibly 2nd or 3rd IF Rafa AND the rest of the team start pulling it together.  I said a couple of weeks ago that it would take  a lot for me to call for Rafa's head at the end of this season, and that a 5th place finish would do that. But if we do end the season within 7-10 points of the winners, I would be down for another season under rafa, but would encourage him to sell a lot of the fringe and to say that whatever he sells his funds will be matched by the club so he can buy players that are twice as good.  We are never going to get anywhere without some stability. And Rafa could not manage the team to the best of his ability (especially long term) if he is constantly worrying about his job.

And yes, I know, it looks REALLLLY bad right now, but people on here need to stop being so knee jerky. It just gets ridiculous sometimes.

Mate, I'm not even going to write a long synopsis for a response to your post. I know you're optimistic, but accept the facts as they are: OUR LEAGUE CHALLENGE IS OVER!. Accept it.
