LIVERPOOL vs PORTO - CL 28/11/07 must win game

Should we play a draw, and Besiktas wins against POrto,  then  Porto and Besiktas are in the next round.

No mate we would go through ..... if Liverpool and Marseille draw and Besiktas pull off a shock by beating Porto, the Reds would go through. In this scenario, Liverpool, Marseille and Porto would all be on eight points. Liverpool would go through with the best goal difference in the head-to-head matches between the three teams.

Congratulations Liverpool, for beating Porto last night.
They didn't play bad, but you really managed to clinch it in the final, well deserved.

Now more suffering in France, but I'm certain you will go through, Marseille was weak after the first 2 wins, they thought they were the best already.

From a BENFICA FAN! Check out the goal a player of our team scored yesterday against Dida of Milan, unfortunately was only a draw, and we are out of the next round. Almost we would repeat the result 2-1 we had against mancs 2 years ago, and they finished 4th in group, not even Uefa Cup.

Celtic is quite lucky, they scored against Benfica and Shaktar in the final moments of the 1st and 2nd halves, brrr....

But supporters are amazing like you are there in Anfield, in Celtic Park only Barcelona managed to win, not even Milan.

yes in head to head we're better than Porto.
But will we play draw against Marseille we are not better, because we lost the game @ Anfield Road.

Tahts the actual table:

1. Porto 8
2. Marseille 7
------------
3. Liverpool 7
4. Besiktas  6

When we play draw for example then it looks like that

1. Marseille 8
2. Liverpool 8
---------------
3. Porto    7
4. Besiktas 6

So and for example Besiktas wins against Porto, then it looks like that.

1. Besiktas 9
2. Marseille 8
--------------
3.Liverpool 8
4. Porto    8

.........So we cant play draw we have to win the game, right? ??????

forget the permeatations. we'll win in marseille if we play anywhere near our best. the game at anfield was a freak result. it was the worst display i've seen from a liverpool side in three years.

We have to go for the win because the likelyhood of Porto losing is pretty slim, but in the event that they do...... a draw will send us through. Liverpool would go through with the best goal difference in the head-to-head matches between the three teams . That comes straight from the BBC MATE NOT JUST ME.

Not the best we have played against European teams we have played worse and been unlucky. For 20 mins in the first half I thought it was going to be one of those nights everything including the crowd went a bit flat after they scored why does a panic seem to set in when we let one in, That panic transfers to the crown and the whole place goes flat.
Second half was great and the subs did the trick.

Does Torres and Crouch have to start every game?
How long is Babel going to promise much and deliver little?
Is Harry Kewell near his (Leeds) best something we have unfortunatly not seen since he arrived?
I love Big Sammi but we need Agger back soon.

Every faith in the team that we will be in the hat for the knock out stage.

a few questions for everone from last night

where did voronin go?

how is crouch not starting with torres and what has he done to rafa ,,eaten the last of the tapas?

out of 10 how bad was quasimodo?

what happened after the first goal, for 20 mins we looked all over the shop?

why oh why do people go to the match and not sing on a night like that, it was an ok atmos but i was buzzing and left feeling a bit robbed by a big percentage of camera carrying idiots?

Maybe, in addition to 100 posts, all newbies should have to correctly explain the permutations for Liverpool advancing to the CL knockout rounds in order to move beyond Newkit probationary status?  :idea  :D

Porto have the same points as us and Marseille, so they get involved, which means thanks to them, we would win

Doesnt matter really, we will beat Marseille

Congratulations for your winning game last Wednesday.

Well well well....Looks like the game at Stade Velodrome on December 11th will be the showdown !
Everybody in Marseille is looking forward to seeing LFC at the Velodrome, for one of the most exciting games of the season, with a general atmosphere you are likely to remember for the rest of your life.
