sissoko had a good game and covered every blade of grass but his distribution and retention of possession needs some work though. i thought hypia had a great game at the back as well. gerrard missed a few chances but again he was our main man.
its dissappointing to miss out on the 3 points but if we dominate every away game like that we wont be far away from the title come next may.

I don't consider myself part of the doom and gloom parade. I have been a fan since I was about 3 years old and have seen them through thick and thin. I just don't think that they are going to hack it in the long run.

I personally thought that Alonso was shocking today and gave the ball away way too cheaply. Come to mention it, I thought that Carragher had an off day distribution wise, but noone would mention that on here.

I appreciate Cisse only had 20 mins or so, but his first touch is abysmal at the moment.

Your very wrong there, there was 3 players that gave the ball away alot and they where Zenden, Garcia and Finnan, Finnan has a lot on his mind at the moment, Zenden afraid of the booing and Garcia well he was just being Luis, but the kid will lose the ball then score you a goal so what do you do?
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.

Please answer my question in my previous post regarding Alonso.

I don't know where you were last season but Alonso proved that he can make it in the Premiership, watch some of the games he played in and you'll see that for yourself.

It wasn't an outstanding performance by Alonso however to say that after one performance that he won't make it in the Premiership is stupid, especially when he's been class nine times out of ten whenever he's played last season in the league.

For instance, against Tottenham at the end of the season Alonso was above everyone else on the pitch. He had the game tied around his finger.

As for Alonso, Garcia, Morientes, Cisse.....I sincerely have my doubts about their potential to be effective in the premiership, although I am giving Morientes the benefit at the moment as he just isn't getting the service.

 :D

Alonso not effective in the Premiership? Garcia scored 8 goals in the Premiership in his first season, not really effective eh.

well, we'll see. They all look to me like they don't want to take a chance with the ball. I just want to taking on players and beating them.....we mess around way too much. We telegraph the ball too much....it's all too safe

you dont want our centre midfielders to mess around on the ball but just want them to go on mazy runs taking people on with dribbling skills? thats a contradiction in terms in my book, their centre midfielders not outside rights!!

it's the job of a centre back to clear the ball to another player in the team and take the pressure of the team. By giving the ball away cheaply you achieve the opposite.

I was just saying that it was unusual for him, that is all

The way I see it the whole idea was to improve on last season and no one said that we were gonna win the title this year. we've picked up a point against boro away and last year we didnt even get anything out of this so although yeh its dissapointing we have improved so far so we should be happy.

When you have three or four players from the opposition breathing on your neck  then it's hard to keep possession.

Well if you haven't watched many games last season it would be stupid on your part to say that Alonso won't hack it in the Premiership because you haven't seen him enough to pass on the judgement on the player.

the times that I am referring to were when he was at the half way line. He wasn't under any more pressure than any other player

well mate i`ve watched them basically all my life since the mid 70`s myself and in my opinion that was a good away performance. we had plenty of possession and chances but the luck didnt go our way thats all. you think certain players didnt play well today? do you think when daglish got the ball he beat 10 men every time and scored in the top corner? even maradona wasnt brilliant every game you`ve got to be realistic and all in all we were the better side away from home.

well, I've seen what I  have seen, I can't tell you how many games, but I have my opinion. Even if I am massively wrong, last season was last season and I haven't seen him do anything special this whole pre-season.

If by special you mean that he doesn't go on crazy runs, or score crackers from the half-way line then yes he hasn't done that but he's a player who keeps things simple. Pass and move.

He's done that better than anyone else in the squad.

So we're even in terms of years put in then as a fan. I appreciate that they can't all perform on the same day, but a good away performance? What is the real difference between a home and an away game? It a piece of grass, 2 goals, 22 players and a ball...end of story. I've never bought that rhetoric, so time for you to flame me again.

I saw a midfield that didn't really know how to penetrate through the backline and forwards who didn't look like scoring all night. This is not the first season things have looked this way...it's been this way for years.

Alonso was one of the heroes of last season, despite his injury. I've never see someone who has such an incredible range of passing and I have every faith that he'll be one of stars this season.

well, I mean that he never got through and broke down the defence. He didn't score no, but I am not holding that against him. He aspires to the same as Stevie...a lot of nice gliding balls from one side of the pitch to the other, but never really penetrating or creating anything. I find the same with Stevie although he has does create more opportunities in my eyes. I just see a lot of times the ball going straight to the opposition and a lot of wastage.

We can be direct. We showed it tonight, but we all look like we are afraid to do so.

Homebooby, Start talking sense or fu*k off back to your home planet, You are writing utter sh!t mate, i know its a forum and your entitled to your opinion but your talking out of your rear end. 2nd half was a huge improvement and although i was fuming at the end that we didnt get what we deserved (a 4 nil win) there were plenty of positives and it beat most, if not all are performances away from home in the prem last season. Boro looked terrifyed of us they wouldnt attack cos they knew how lethel we were, unfortunatly today things didnt go Stevies way but he did put in a fantastic performance and he looks so much fitter and stronger than last season, Cisse caused havoc but sh!t out for a header at the back post, an excellent 1st game for Momo, he played even better once he got booked, he won the ball, tackled, passed well, linked up well and looked a class act in the 2nd half, Boeteng is a fantastic midfielder and does an excellent job for Boro and Momo matched him today and thats the best praise you can give the lad. Biggest disappointment of the game was wasting the 1st half when it was clear Boro had no intention of attacking after 5 minutes of the game, but Rafa will see that even teams who are gonna be challaging for the top 6 are scared of us and happy to take a point at home aginst us before a ball is even kicked. Only 1 team ever looked like winnin ant that was us, and that was something we couldnt   say a lot on are travels last season, if continue to play away from home the way we did 2nd half then the away day blues will well and truly be over.
