Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

You honestly don't see this as the best season we've had in YEARS? Your disappointment from this game is showing. That's all...

Shocking!!

I can't really find any positives to take out of that pile of shite.

The lack of Alonso and Gerrard shows just how much we have relied on them (Gerrard more so) this season. Torres looked so isolated up front that he could have gone a month of Sundays and still had very little to feed off.

Squad wise I'm afraid that if we had to rely on a team like today for 38 league games then we'd at best be in mid table obscurity season on season. If this is the type of team Rafa wants to have as his side then he can quietly board a plane back to Spain cos it just ain't good enough for Liverpool FC.  Knee jerk as it may sound it is a feeling that has steadily been growing in me for the past few months. I just can't see where he is taking us now and I'm starting to get that Houllier feeling that change is coming and is dare I say it needed! ???

you are :censored: mad if you think Rafa is not to blame for this.

Ok he takes some blame of course but against a team with one of the worst away record our squad should have been good enough to beat them.

Not when you have your only striker completely isolated out of the game.

4-5-1....bollox.

I Think it might be time for some om here to  face the fact thatRafa is not the Manager to win us the Prem, If you would like us to win the Prem then you need to come up with the name of a Manager that could help us win the prem and put our team back together again.

I just thought being so close to the title, we wouldn't be let down and we would make sure we won every home game from now on. This is why im so upset.

If i get a text off one more manc i swear i am goin to hire skrtel to pay them a visit!!!

That said, it looks like real madrid on wednesday now becomes an even bigger priortiy....
Don't get me wrong im not one for saying it's all over just yet....but with United playing the way they are playing, all there 4 frontment fit...along with some other factors we would now need a miracle to lift that title in may.

Why the hell to put Babel on with only 8 minutes left in regular time. What's worse was to leave Lucas there instead of Mascherano. I understand we don't have much option today but the timing again really puzzles me. Rafa is thinking too far ahead and should take this game first before resting Mascherano for the Real Madrid game. What will it do taking him out 10 minutes before the game end. If want to do it, do it earlier. WTF.

Realistically, bye bye EPL champion this year. If we kept 5 points difference, then we might still have a shot but 8 points.....All those points lost from all the winnable games before now come back to haunt us. I thought we should be playing better by now but we are still trying hard to find our form. I think Rafa will walk as it seems he is setting the stage....

I think if it is the case that we're now out of it, we have to also seriously consider whther we should be looking over our shoulders at Chelsea. They got a huge result at Villa yesterday and I expect them to improve under Hiddink. The gap betwen us and them isn't so huge and we'll have to be careful.

I think our next couple of league games (and indeed the match at Mdrid) are really important. If a kind of depression settles on the players, the wheels could well and truly come off. Time for some top quality man management :) .

If we do fail to continue this challenge i would have to admit this has probably been the easier titles mannure could win..
Just hope we push them all the way also would like chelsea to do well get back in the race dont want this to be an easy ride for mannure..

Best line up would be what ace has mentioned few posts above. Main thing is lets win this match get it over and done with and have our stars back for boro..

mate we aint winning title this year you know , I know it , Rafa knows it (hence why he is making the great escape).

HELLO !!!  :shifty

I go back to me earlyer point...

What now ?

Play madrid that are 6-0 up at half time and in form of there life.

Rafa playing for CL I think so its the one thing he can win that will give him a job back in spain.

to be honest, if Real offered us a load of cash to buy Rafa's contract, i'd be tempted. Its been 5 years and i don't think we're any closer to winning the league.

Do you seriously think real want benitez ? They got rid of capello for boring defensive football (and he even won them the league that season)...

Benitez is even more defensive than capello. I also don't think the real madrid fans will tolerate when he play van horse face as a left winger...... drops Higuain for the next game when he just scored a hatrick.... and doesn't pick robben at all for no reason whatsoever... :p

I think benitez might make a decent italian manager..... one for one exchange with mourinho.... ? :D

Dossena, Lucas, Babel. So much money wasted on such talentless players.

We will

Not if we play like that.    :no

Did we play badly? I don't think so. Had enough chances to score more than two goals. Plenty of possession. Defended well. Lacked a bit of creativity.

There is nothing majorly wrong with the team and how we play. We're just short of one or two really class flair players. Then again, do we have 60 million to buy those world class flair players? No.

So I guess you were happy with how unimaginative our tactics were, how we gave the ball away time and time and time again, how most of our team haven't got the faintest fecking clue how to strike a ball. All that is ok with you is it. It was embarassing to see how Man Citeh looked far classier than us at times and had some really nice moves. I was sat in a pub with a bunch of Liverpool fans and the amount of groans of frustration was just insane. We were mpisspoor today and in truth deserved to loose the game, yes we had a few half chances but that was only after Viteh, for som bizare reason, had decided that a draw was ok and started sitting back, before that they completely dominated the 2nd hald, it must have been one of hell of a team talk from Rafa becuase first half we were good but the second we were :censored:, thank god we've got a genius as a manager!

... yeah, thats right we're 2nd in the league, 1 loss all season, beaten the mancs/chelsea, now get a drink and reflect on that and tmrw you'll realise it aint that bad. And as for anyone who asks 'is this Rafa's fault' i can answer that too...

It doesn't matter what manager comes in. We're never going to have the spending and recruitment power to have a team full of class. The team we have is a quality enough squad anyway. It's just lacking a bit of depth. United can spend 18+ million per player that they bring in, and in a lot of cases well over 20 million. We've signed 2 players worth that in 5 years. That's the difference. Torres was 18+ million, and Nani cost how much? Almost the same for a plank. For Benitez to ever win us the league, the money needs to be on the table when he requires it, plus he needs to target and sign who HE WANTS instead of who senior Parry thinks is LFC standard. Only then can this manager be fully judged IMO.
