HELLO !!!
The problem is, how is he going to prove he can win the league if he gives it up this early and writes it off in favour of the Champions League?
If our title challenge ends after 26 or 27 games, if we don't win today then it could be all over, then I'd say what's he ever done in the Premiership besides a club record points total in the Premiership? PBs are all well and good, but to win this race he will have to beat the rest and probably his personal best. That will be two managers covering a decade between them, winning cups and doing quite well in the Premiership at times, but both were brought in to win the league

Not a huge amount in it, Houllier managed to finish second, both won cups although Rafa has won the biggest club cup. But overall both have showed plenty of success in the cups and not enough (progress) in the league

None of that is exactly phenomenal, the Champions have never averaged less than two points per game and exactly 2.00 points per game back in 1992/93 - 2.38 is the average for the Champions since 2004/05 so even though he's doing better than previous managers, the bar has also been raised.
