If we lost, and Utd beat whatever :censored: team they are playing, it is over.  I'm  not being negative at all, we can win all our remaining fixtures and I still think there is a high chance of us not winning.  A 8 point lead, even losing a 6 pointer to us brings them down to a 5 point lead, still too much.  But a 5 point lead to a 2 point lead, now there is some real chances.

seems unrealistic that we will win all of our remainder matches.. Cant see mannure dropping many points aswel. With rooney back the squad has become even stronger.

I don't see citeh as being too much of a threat tbh. If we play a decent team against them I think we can win this comfortably by 2 or 3 goals. This would probably be a good game to re-introduce Insua instead of Dossena who I still think is a liability defensively, and I would prefer Agger for this one, but in all honesty I can't see that happening.

                        Reina
Arbeloa         Carra     Agger      Insua

Benayoun      Alonso   Masch      Reina

                   Kuyt
                       Torres

Should be more than enough to see off Citeh.

I didn't like the look of Kuyt behind Torres when gerrard went off against Everton. We looked much better in the second half IMO when Benayoun move into that position and Kuyt went wide.

(Riera instead of Reina on the wing obviously)

My choices:
                    Riena
Arbeloa     Carra    Skrtel     Insua
            Masherano     Alonso
     Kuyt       Benayoun      Aurelio
                   Torres

Aurelio has put in some cracking crosses recently and I think might be really good as a left winger. I think Riera can really make a difference as an impact player too. He can come on replacing one of Aurelio or Benayoun.

Whoever it was praising Man Utd was wrong in any case IMHO. They are a good side of that there is no question, but they are being made to look better by a relatively poor Premier League this season. I know, I know, it's been done before but just because people don't like hearing it for some reason, it doesn't make it less true.

Chelsea and Arsenal are fairly obviously some way below what we've come to expect, and while both we and Aston Villa have improved, those two teams sit 5 and 8 points respectively behind the Mancs, which after 25 games indicates both that the league is relatively weak, and that the Mancs haven't been some superhuman team so far.

Wigan currently sit seventh in the Prem, West Ham eighth, Man City ninth, Fulham tenth and Sunderland eleventh. Anyone who has seen those teams play a couple of times this season would be hard pressed to convince me that in other seasons they wouldn't be in the bottom six.

Also, the Mancs have 59 points in 25 games with this "wonder team". They have 13 left to play, and if they win all of them they end up on 98 points, which would beat Mourino's record at Chelsea by three points. I don't think they will win all 13 though, confirming for me anyway that they are a good side, perhaps a very good one but by no means a great one.

This season the league has been so far very odd and yet unpredictable. When i look at the top half of the table it just amazes me where chelsea and arsenal have slipped to. Even though mannure are top of the table still have to admit they have just about won some of thier games. Nine 1-0 wins i think....
With rooney comming back it seems they will be stronger then ever so now is the time for us to work hard. Every game is a must win..  Just hope mannue will slip up, sure they will but hope it wont be to late then.
For me its a 2 horse  race now...

It's definately a two horse race mate in the sense that we are the only ones who can stop them drawing level on titles, and in fairness it has been for a few weeks. Our task is to make sure it remains a two horse race and doesn't turn into a walkover. Only win, after win, after win will do.

Wasn't Man City the team predicted to break into the Big4 this year? yet they're struggling to stay on top ten.
btt, wouldn't it be better if Gerrard starts and gets subbed out rather than the opposite?

i think when back from an injury he is best kept on the bench unless needed, no point starting him in this, on the bench where hopefully he can stay to give his injury a little more time to heal

I would agree with that, however who of our midfield is available when injuries and suspensions are taken into account? just don't want another 6 defenders on the pitch thats all

It's a question of when people predicted, I think it was on the back of a few summer signings, their new rich owners and the arrival of Robinho. But the manager is a tad clueless and looks out of his depth, the side doesn't look that balanced and despite all their money they couldn't persuade big names to join them despite the money. That wasn't helped by an ordinary start to the season so they resorted to signing what they could get - Bridge, Bellamy, De Jong - and paid a pretty price in the process.

The crunch may come by the end of the summer, whether Hughes is still manager and if targets are enticed more so than before. Their buying was no better than any one season of Rafa's, one or two very good purchases but not enough to improve the club to a much loftier position. The main difference being we were in a better starting position, they may be only a season or two away from catching us up. I read yesterday that Platini (?) is still trying to limit spending so maybe that will halt Citeh. But there are definite warning signs there that we need to be pushing for the title or it might not just be the mancs, Chelsea, villa and Arsenal we have to look out for
