GONZALEZ STARTS, PENNANT ON THE BENCH

Jermaine Pennant will start on the bench against FC Kaiserslautern today with Rafael Benitez giving youngsters Paul Anderson, Jack Hobbs and Lee Peltier another chance to impress during pre-season.

Hopefully Fowler and Bellamy will get at least an hour together today, it would be good if Zenden got the whole 90 mins, and Gonzo at least 1 hour, time to start cranking up the work for these guys.

It's not, the athletics is on Eurosport2, the camera angle is sh!t3, you can't see the far side of the pitch, plus Eurosport commentry is cr3p
