I've just watched the game and although it feels like a defeat at this present point in time. I think think the lads played excellent yesterday. I dont wont to dwell on the inpet refering too much the least siad about that the better, but I will say a quick word :D He ruined that game yesterday and decided to make himslef the showpiece amongst the 22 players out there yesterday. He was appalling and it did look as though he booked Essein twice to add insult to misery, the blokes a kunt.

But all that said and done when Torres scored the words that popped into my head were 'Genuine title contenders'. That thought stuck with me right up until that diabolical decision, and then like the players I had the stuffing knocked out of me. Any team who played like we did yesterday would of had the wind taken out of their sales after such a terrible decision. It wasnt any wonder the boys couldnt hit back with a goal as I was like a stunned mullet watching on.

I just hope too much psyhcological damage isnt done and I'd really like to see the boys bounce back against Sunderland next week as a test of character. If we pick up from this result I can in all honesty see us being amongst the title challenge come April.

As a fan watching the game today I couldnt of asked more from the players, we had Chelsea rattled for 61 minutes. We had the desire and the belief that was needed in this kind of fixture, our players were winning the 50/50's all over the park. Jermaine Pennant gave Ashley Cole a terrible time, I bet when Cole saw Pennants number go up on the board as he was being substituted a headache relieved. Pennant impressed me with his running of the flank and also his touch was excellent too. I think he's finnally settled now and we may get to see the real Pennant play, his tracking back was good, his movement was equally as good and I think I'd give him MoTM. But tbh all the players did well, Kuyt was typically hardworking and worked for the cause (as he usually does :D ).
Just quickly, I dont want to call it too early but I could be up for eating humble pie concerning Pennant and Kuyt, but I'll give Kuyt a few more games until I take a chunk because I still believe he needs to work more on sticking the ball into the back of the net. Same too with Pennant really, but like I said Pennant impressed me yesterday.

Xabi and Gerrard looked good in the middle too, they played well together and both played for each other I thought. BTW who said Xabi wipes Stevie's @rse ? Was it you Lando ... I think that myth, the one where Gerrard doesnt get back enough has totally been blown out of the water now. The best example of that was in the first half where Kalou tricked his way through the defence barring down on goal for Gerrard to fly in out of no where and be tackled brilliantly in the nick of time, then Gerrard went on from there to snuff out Drogba who has taken up a wider position.

Alonso had a good game I thought, and I thought he was going to get a nose bleed after his side footed shot that went wide on goal in the second half. As he often doesnt push up and look to shoot or attack the oppositions 18 yard box. More of that though Xabi !

Both our fullbacks played excellently well, Finnan who is Mr consistent is a real unsung hero in my book and is probably one of the best buys in Premier league history I think. Arbeloa too had another good game, both fullbacks pushing on and providing width and service, Arbeloa especially likes to maurade forward, and when ever he's running with the ball, I feel like something will come off at the end of it, like I have a confidence in him when bringing the ball out he does it with purpose.

Carra and Agger had their hands full with Drogba yesterday but still managed to keep him largely at bay throughout the majority of the game. Even when Chelsea went to play B, or is it plan A ? to route one their football Drogba was handled well and got little change out of Agger and Carra.

Reina tbh had feck all to do, apart from pick the ball out of the net :(  but still looked comfortable through out. Riise was the solid option to pick at LM as he'll cover Arbelao well and look to get forward whenever he can, although he isnt an out and out winger I think he did well out wide, but unfortunately thats probably the best he can offer going forward, in saying that though that would do against most other teams in the Prem.

Oh and then there's Torres who would of  thought to himself that he  had the perfect home debut, but for Rob Styles to nick the limelight and tarnish it slightly. Torres should be happy with himself, his goal was brilliantly taken almost Michael Owen-esk type. Thats what we've needed for a long time, a player who can change pace on the last man and tuck the ball away ... keep em coming Nando !!! He did tire towrards the end and I thought Rafa would of taken him off as his touches werent quite as good as they were in the first half, but thats the Premiership !! He'll adjust to the pace soon enough.

Like I said earlier if the boys dont let this result get to them and are able to get back into the groove, I think will push Man United, Arsenal and Chelsea this year.

Happy days !  :)

mmm i thought alonso was our worst player mate, gave the ball away too often, was dispossessed to easily and his passing was below the standards we know he is capable of.

i was hoping to have to old alonso back but we never got that, i tink its time for a mash/gerrard partnership as alonso is not convincing me

He did get easily disspossed in the first half a couple of times, but baring that I think he had a good game. I would like to see him impact more on a game from midfield, but tbh I thought all the lads did well yesterday.

Their squad is filled with c*nts....

1)Terry
2)Mikel - A punk....hope Sissoko breaks his leg next time we meet
3)Drogba - A world class striker....but when his career is over...he won't be mentioned in the same breath as Van Basten and Ronaldo. He sarcastically applauds carra after fouling him. And then he is on his back wasting time.
4)Lamptard - Already having a bald spot.....  He wants to go one on one with alonso ? Alonso should break his leg like how his was broken by lamptard.
5)Maloudo - Can't be bothered to spell his name correctly. Another cheat... He will fit in very well there.

Oh...what are chelsea gonna do when Essien & Drogba goes away during the african nations ? They are gonna drop loads of points....

I was not in a big hatred of Chelsea before yesterday's match, but after that I have to agree with you that I am beginning to hate them more than man U

Besides what you mentioned, Mourinho is much annoying more than any time before.

I knew he's always a little bit of shameless, but it still shocked me that he could be shameless enough to claim something like Chelsea "are a naive and pure team...
they are naive because we do not have divers, we do not have violent people we do not have nasty tackles. We do not have people diving into swimming pools".

What a disgraceful liar!!!
They have everything he just denied!!!

Bad Bob wrote:Utterly rubbish call from Styles cost us a deserved victory but I take great heart from the performance.  Sure, we could have had a bit more rub of the green in front of goal but we played some lovely stuff at times and the Torres goal was an absolute gem...I'm well made up for the lad (and loved his instinctive winding up of Terry...well in, son! ;D ).  To be gutted because we dropped two points to Chelsea rather than grateful for the point speaks volumes about how the bar has been raised.  I like how things are taking shape this season so far. :nod

Spot on Bob...

I am utterly disgusted with Styles too but what can you say?
I know it's poor consolation and a well worn cliche but these things do tend to even themselves out over the season.

Lets focus on the positives from the match rather than focus on bloody Styles.... he's not f@#king worth it.... No point we adopt the behaviour of the bitters, chelsea, arsenal and mancs when we lose.... blaming everyone...

LFC walks on no matter how bad the breaks.... we'll come through in the end.

Hold our heads high.... we played well... didn't resort to any sort of gamesmanship or cheating, deserved our goal and was, overall, the better team.... and EVERYONE (even the usual turds in the media) knows it after yesterday......

We'll get them on their own sorry little excuse for a ground.

the team played great and thats the only positive thing out of yesterday game for me.

Ref: Shouldnt play anymore
Chelsea: very mediocre. sadly we couldnt finish them
Torres: great goal - a sign of greater things to come
Risse: i said before he shouldnt and cant play as LM (do i have to say i told u?) Cant control so many times. He's strong guy with no brain full stop. Why so many ppl rate him as LM? ???
Alonso: Great mind with a body of old man. No fundamental attribute which is speed. Lost ball numerous times, contribute little.
The back four played very well. I like Aberloa
Pennant: played better than i expect. Provided a lot of good balls
SG: solid
Kuyt: still waiting for him to really perform. Until then Crouch should play
Rafa: Bad decisions with alonso and risse

As far as our performance goes, I was pretty happy with it but obviously it can be improved.

I thought that Riise did ok, but he doesn't offer much of a threat down the wings.... We need Harry back badly or Babel to settle in fast.... In a game like this, I think Rafa chose well to start with Riise instead of Babel as against Chelsea, we need cover down the flanks.

I didn't quite like the look of the right side. We had plenty of penetration but too frequently the final ball was dissapointing. Pennant did well but needs improvement in his end product... He did ok..... no real criticism but feel we need better.

I thought that Xabi and Gerrard did ok in the middle. I was hoping that Xabi would be back to his usual self but he's not quite back yet. At times, his passing was disappointing but overall he did ok. With the benefit of 20/20 hindsight, I'd have probably picked Masch.

Back 4 was solid. Arbeloa is doing well. Happy with them all at the mo..... Would be interesting to see how Aurelio would fit once he's fit again.

Up front is where i'd have probably don't it a little differently from Rafa's set-up. Kuyt is playing way too deep and though I've defende him in the past, I must say that he didn't do himself any favours with the performance he put in yesterday. Crouch would have been a better option as a hold up guy and would probably cause a less than fit Terry more problems. I feel that Torres would have benefitted better with Crouch's presence and playing off the the big man. I love his work ethic and never say die attitude but he's not doing enough right now to justify a place in the starting 11 imo....

Else, things are looking good for the rest of the season.

Well, that's how an overated below average player celebrates when they managed to score a goal from a penalty kick.... pathetic.  :no

If he was the "worst" mate I think he was the "worst" of an excellent team.

yes i agree, we performed very well, but alonso was below the standards he set in his first season, the last two seasons he has been poor.

after lampards penalty and he ran to the chelsea fans he was screaming his own name, how fecking sad is that   ???
