Gerrard, Alonso, Bellamy, Hyypia all on the bench... sounds like we dont care too much about this game and are focusing more on fitness for the start of the prem

Rafa's outdone Maureen again.... The Chelski whinger was giving it the big "we're not at full strength so they have everything to prove" So RB goes and lays down a marker by saying we have a squad as well...
El Genius.......!

Chelsea seem to be out in full strength. Wouldn't have minded seeing our 1st team squad in action against them.

Just had a look at Chelsea team. Looks strong but no R midfielder so hopefully Speedy can get at the fullback.

Liverpool will line up as follows:

Reina

Riise
Agger
Carragher
Finnan

Gonzalez
Zenden
Sissoko
Pennant

Garcia
Crouch

agger starting.... zenden in the middle, no stevie G or alonso.....!!!!!

Interesting team, can't say I'm overly surprised. Rafa is getting the squad ready for Bramall Lane on Saturday, that's far more important.

Geremi will probably be playing left back, hardly his best position. Pennant and Gonzo coudl be key, but I think we're going to struggle big time keeping possession in midfield. Sissoko and Zenden are hardly players who spray the ball around the pitch with 100% efficiency, and against Ballack, Essien and Lamaprd we could struggle. Momo wil lahve to have a huge game. We will defo be playing on the counter-attack, looking to utilise Penannt and Gonzo's pace.

Hopefully we'll beat them 1-0, but I'm not overly confident with that team TBH.

Its not really an important game, all the same it would be great to get one over on Chelsea!

As for the line-up,well i can only presume Raffa wants Zenden match fit and he is in his plans for the EPL games ahead!
Im a bit surprised to see Stevie dropped, but understand why all the same,he'll be away playing for England on Wednesday and we need him fresh for our first important game in 6 days time!!
Raffas decision indicates that Stevie is match fit and ready to go,he does not need anymore games to gane fitness, thats why he aint starting!
I would'nt read anymore into it!
Good to see Agger starting at the back and hopefully he has a good game, this guy needs to taste more footabll as a lot is expected from him in the future and he's highly expected to be a relacement for Hyypia long term!

Im really looking forward to seeing Pennant and Gonzalez today, agin these to really had to start, this is their last game before it gets serious so it will be a crucial excersise for both!

Overall im looking forward to the game, and i really dont know what to to expect!Maureen has said his team are only 50% fit...yeah and im the Pope of Rome!!
His team selection says one thing only, they want to win!

Lets hope thats not the case...but dont get too upset if it is.The real stuff starts next Saturday away to Sheffield UTD...this is the match we should all be concerned about and can simply for a lot of reasons not afford to loose!!
