It's ok, we've still got Lucas  :no

If we do end up going out then I really hope this is the last time we will see Lucas playing for us in Europe. He is rubbish and no where near good enough.

No news reports on Stevie just yet. Arsene Wenger was just saying he thinks we can overturn this too. Come on we can do this! If we score early on it will swing the momentum in our favour. Rafa needs to take advantage of no Terry.

The problem though is Gerrard not being able to get into the game.

Yup Gerrard is going to have to work his socks off to get away from Essien.

My guess is that Hiddink will use the same tactic, so since we have mascherano back Alonso can push forward with Gerrard more, Essien will have to come off and mark Alonso from time to time, giving Gerrard some space.

Blackburn recently had a flukey win against Tottenham with a last gasp goal. We have to make sure we score more than one goal because I can see them doing the same and snatching a draw.

If Gerrard is out we should maybe start with Benayoun who is very capable of giving nice through balls for Torres and bring Alonso more central for more control.

Just hope it's not serious.

If we can't beat Blackburn without him then we don't deserve to be challenging for the League to be honest.

just got to hope that it's not to bad and he can over come it

i don't like to think it but it might be better if he did miss the blackburn and even the chavs again so that he is right for the rest of the run in  ( yes i know an 80% gerrard is better than no gerrard ) i'm tring to look at the bigger picture.

if he plays sat and does more damage and is then out for the rest of the season then we can kiss it all goodbye, with mash back we could play something like this

                   reina

arb - - carra - - skittle - - insua

bennie --alonso -- mash -- reira/babal

                 kuyt

                     torres

i would hope that, that team could beat b/burn

I would have pretty much the same but Benni in the middle and Kuyt wide.

                                    Benayoun

                                      Torres

Kuyt isnt as good at breaking down lesser teams and the central position is vital to be able to break down teams. Benayoun is much more capable of putting in through balls for Torres so more goal threat.

A bit of a crazy idea, which Rafa is never going to do but just a thought  :lookaround

Or play Xabi behind Nando, definitely not Kuyt though which of course means it's exactly whatRafa will do  :D

If Stevie is still out for the Chelsea game then how about switching to 4-4-2 and playing babel or Kuyt and Nando up front with a midfield of Riera, Mascha, Xabi and either Kuyt or Bennayoun right midfield.

Kuyt behind Torres is a MUCH better option than Alonso behind Torres.  After all these years of berating Rafa for tinkering and you want to play Alonso in the hole? :D

"Kuyt behind Torres is a MUCH better option than Alonso behind Torres."

How do you figure that Bob?

Somehow we went from having 5 left sided players on good form to one in the matter of one game. :(     What have we normally played in the past without Gerrard but with Torres (discounting the Keane era)?

Off to the match info thread for some research :D

I believe that history tells us Kuyt replaces Gerrard and Yossi replaces Kuyt

Or we could do the pompey formation:
                                      Reina
                Srktel             Carra            Agger
     Arbeloa       mascherano    Alonso         Dossena
                   Yossi                      Babel
                                  Torres

:D
