nobybob wrote:Terrible atmosphere again or should i say lack of, embarrassing really when there was no response to the "where's your famous atmosphere" and especially the "one nil and you still don't sing". Controversial i know but i blame the oots indirectly, gone are the days when your average scouser always had enough money to go the game and have a pint after week in week out and maybe even take the kids ( the game not the pint). Cost me £54 today for a dad and lad this may not be much to some be to me and i suspect many others its a struggle, i have to weigh up which games i can afford and actually get tickets for. Its not even just the cost but also the availability and demand for tickets, i supose we have been victims of our own past success in this respect has led to a huge increase in the number of day trippers coming in for the weekend with money to burn who dont mind paying over the odds for a ticket, as for many its a one off. Im not trying to have a go at the ooters, and realise they bring a lot of much needed revenue into the club, but at what cost atmosphere wise? I was trying to figure out why the difference in atmosphere between some of the european games and your average run of the mill games like todays and okay some of it is going to be down to tradition and history blah blah blah but think maybe that the many scousers in my position give games like today a miss as a rule and save their money for those BIG games, and thus the atmosphere difference.

It's been done to death on here mate but you can bet there were a sh..i.t load of of regulars (Scouse, Wools and OOTS) sitting on their hands unable to raise a song for the Blackburn game and yet. Just five days earlier the same lads/lasses were raising the roof against the gooners in the Champions League. There's a whole host of factors that go into the atmosphere debate and the OOT/day tripper effect is just one of many. Truth is the atmosphere on a Saturday for your 3pm against the Blackburns, Fulhams and Readings of this world is flatter then a pancake and has been for years now.

Try and get yerself a ticket for Chelsea!

It's not taboo mate but if you look back at the threads on this over the last few years they always get pretty heated and inevitably get closed!

maybe it was my fault for differentiating ooters as oppose to day trippers (for which i apologise ) but as for the rest screw you this is a debate that should not be taboo

p.s less of the "idiot"

There are many outside liverpool who love the club and create as much noise in anfield. In fact there are many from liverpool who are as quite as peace itself.

As for your ps, I do not apologise for that, so many people think that it is only scousers who make the noise at anfield. It is not.

wish i could mate wish i could
Just a little disappointed to as i was taking my 5 year old son to his first game and memories of my dad taking me to my early games came rushing back, and the contrast in atmosphere! well lets just say i spent half the game telling my lad what it used to be like. As for the  Chelsea game, yep i know that's the atmosphere i would like him to experience but its a catch 22 we all want to to be a part of those atmosphere's so naturally the demand goes up and the likelihood of me ever getting tickets to take him goes down. Maybe that's why it hit me so hard today

atmosphere has been poor for a long long time. today was just another pathetic display of this club...europe is more important. like it or not, that's the truth. we see the best of the players on european nights, we see the best of the manager on european nights and we see the best of the crowd and atmosphere on european nights at anfield.

I for one do sing at every single game, because every game is important and deserves to be treated as big as Barcelona even if it is Derby. The arguement about the non-scousers rings truth, but is also total bollox at the same time. My lad brought his missus today from N.Ireland (he lives over there now) and she was just as vocal as me and him, whereas me nephew (a scouser) was stood silent. So it's not just scousers who make the noise or non-scousers who are silent, but there is a difference between the two.

I'm not saying I love the club anymore than anyone else, but it's different for a scouser to someone from Derbyshire for example. Scousers are surrounded by Liverpool and Everton all day. There's no getting away from it. Wherever you go, football is in your face, it's that kind of city. Just like it's different for a Bristol City fan to live in Liverpool than Bristol. If City lose he doesn't get the stick off the Rovers fans if he's in Liverpool, just like the fella from Derbyshire doesn't get the aggro off Evertonians (or as much aggro) as a scouser would get. As for fans from abroad, well they are mainly glory hunters, who don't realise what this club has been built on over the years. They may know the names of Shankly, Paisley and so on, but they don't know the truth behind the stories. Sorry if that offends anyone, which undoubtedly it will, but that's the truth.
1) You'll Never Walk Alone
2) pass and move is the Liverpool groove
3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

I remember goin a game a few years ago and some fella from grimsby or somewher he said just started talking to me. He spent more time talkin to me and the lad the other side of him than he did watchin the match. Now im not sayin all ooters are like that , just one example of my experience. Another thing when you hear people shoutin things like " Get that little so and so off he s.*i*e" Every time there scousers. Maybe thats cos theres more of scousers at the game than any other part of the country or whatever, but not once of the top of my head do I remember some ooter shouting some abuse or encouragement out loud . Probably just me but what the heck, theres my 1p worth.
