A bad performance all round...i am struggling to remember a clear cut chance!!

Totally dissappointed with the lads tonight and surprised to say the least!
All i can think to say in our defence is that our players are tired..after all this was our 46th game this season! But being honest this is a hollow excuse and one that carries little weight!

What has annoyed me the most is that the goal came from another set piece..FFS Sort that out Raffa, what is the point of our defenders sweating blood all the time if we crumble too often from dead ball crosses?

All in all there is still very little wrong (not based on tonights performances)
We need to address the set piece defensive weakness now because these stray goals we are leaking are one too many every time..especially when we are scoring so few...which leads to our next problem!!

Is there any chance of one of our 'strikers' actually finding a bit of form in the later stages of the season and doing what they are meant to??Scoring goals regularly!!

Frustrated and a bit shocked after watching that.....but still optomistic of taking Benfica to Anfield and giving them a lesson in football!!

I hope to see Rafa just allow the side to express themselves and attack in numbers.  Our strikers are not the only reason for lack of goals

Right everyone, I urge you to ignore these people. We are just giving them what they want. I think we should leave it to the moderators now.

The defence was okay tonite; Benfica hardly had any chances;our midfield especially Garcia and Kewell were very irresponsible and unprofessional with our possession. They should be ashamed at their performances and both should have been replaced; Fowler and Moro should have been left on.

The alarm bells are ringing for the second leg; the Ref is going to have to be good, as we can see that they are terrible for diving play-acting and feigning injury. I just hope we can score in the first ten minutes, otherwise the frustration will increase by the minute.

I worry that we are not scoring; we can't expect the defence to bale us out every match.

There is too much pressure on Crouch to set things up; surely it is time to look to our reserves for goals; maybe Calliste and Anderson should be introduced at some stage.

We should never have lost this game; this result will be a terrible blot on our European record; Benfica are arguably the worst team we have played all season.
