We've seen now that playing Keane upfront on his own doesnt work.

So we shouldn't have played that line-up away to Chelsea?

Well it wasnt as if keane was very effective in that game either was it.  I wouldnt say he was pivotal to the result we got at chelsea at all.  Babel was better in the short time he played.

But you still maintain that we C'ANT play 4-2-3-1 without Torres DESPITE the FACT we were the first team to win at Chelsea in nearly FIVE years. I deffo think we should play a different system there next season :no

But, on evidence, Liverpool can't (and shouldn't most of the time) play 4-2-3-1 against most sides. Using that formation against Chelsea was the right idea. But it was a defensive mindset and the team spent most of the game defending with two layers of four. Rafa set out for the draw before that game started.

LIVERPOOL WERE LUCKY (THAT'S LUCKY) TO GET A DEFLECTION GOAL AGAINST CHELSEA USING THAT FORMATION.

Other than that LUCKY deflection goal, there wasn't much chance of Liverpool scoring in that game.

Yes Liverpool had a good game against Chelsea in other areas of the park, but at the business end they were no great shakes.

Against other teams, Liverpool should play with two up front and at least offer the midfield more options going forward. At the very least two strikers will force oposition teams to divide their defence.

Rafa is deluding himself and the fans if he thinks that the likes of Keane, Kuyt, N'gog or Babel are consistantly good enough to play on their own up front.

going on about luck once again , who fecking cares about luck when we deserve to win the game and get something out of it . teams like man utd and chelsea have been getting lucky goals for years when they deserve to win games , for years we complained about not getting much luck in front of goal when we deserved to win games or get results - now we are getting some luck people are going on about it being a bad thing ? Its the nature of football - sometimes you get what you deserve sometimes you dont - if luck plays a part then great - who cares - its the end result that matters . Spurs got lucky on sat against us just like we got lucky with a penalty last night - but our overall play (bar the missed chances) we deserved to get something out of the game and we got it . i think overall they had two meaningful chances - the one simao put over the bar and the goal - other than that they didnt create anything . some of our passing was sublime some of it was poor . We created numerous chances on any other day we could of won that game last night by a clear three goals (but for poor finishing ,great defending) and we would of deserved too .We do need to sort of finishing off our chances but that will come .

I care and it's important.

Liverpool can't simply rely on lucky goals if they are serious about winning titles. Fück "deserving" and "getting something out of it", these platitudes are unimportant. The team that wins a game wins is the one that scores the most goals and you can't simply hope for a lucky deflection to win games AND THE TITLE in the long run.

I also don't give a fück about how many goals Man Utd or Chelsea have got over the years, because up front these teams are ALWAYS a threat. The same cannot be said about Liverpool.

Utd have a brace of quality strikers that can be interchanged and can rely on at least one of them to get a goal. Chelsea have a fantastic striker in Drogba and a midfeld that score too.

Liverpool, on the other hand, ONLY have Torres up front that we can say can be "relied on" to score on a regular basis and that needs to be addressed if there is any serious effort for a title.

Also, who's saying a lucky goal a bad thing? That's your own inability to read what's in front of you that's making you draw that conclusion and comparison with Spurs getting lucky against Liverpool doesn't hold water...Spurs aren't even challenging for the Premiership (and haven't been for years).

And that is the salient issue regarding Liverpool and fortunate goals.

The bottom line is Liverpool NEED another quality striker, because it's patently obvious that when Torres is unfit, Liverpool are terribly weak up front.

but our overall play (bar the missed chances) we deserved to get something out of the game and we got it

You see, this kind of rubbish means fück all in reality. One could easily say that we deserved to 3 down at half time because we gave the ball away so much and handed the initiative back to AM.

"Deserving" and "getting something out of the game" are just mindless platitudes.

for us to be three down at half time would mean they would of had to create three chances at least . They only created two decent ones all game . And im sorry but we didnt give the ball away as much as you say as shown by the passes completed stats , possession and shots , all superior in the favour of liverpool . On another day we would of won that game by at least 3 clear goals . Our finishing let us down last night .

No it doesn't. It means they just have to get Liverpool on the break, like they did. They punished Liverpool with a well taken goal.

When Liverpool give the ball away like they did last night, THEY create the chances for the opposition.

If AM were a better team, they would have capitalised on the amount of give away balls that Liverpool handed them last night and at times they looked very threatening to the Liverpool goal.

OTHH, Liverpool looked as if they wouldn't score if the game went on for another hour. They had no ideas up top.

We gave the ball away consistently GYBS. I lost count on the amount of weak passes, aimless long balls, give aways and interceptions that went on last night. It was like watching a schoolboy 11 play at times and not a team that has aspirations about winning the CL, never mind the Premiership.

Was unable to watch the match, so I'm not able to comment about what actually happened in it (was it a penalty, did we deserve more, was Aurelio really poor etc.). But considering the other result in the group and the fact that we only managed to draw level with practically the last kick of the game, I think the situation looks just fine regarding the CL at least. Would like us to go on and win the group though, as we'd get a potentially easier tie in the first knock out round.

Was it just me or is anyone else thinking how sh!te our bench looked last night. With the exception of Babel the rest are just seat warmers.

I'm still confused why Rafa got rid of Riise for Dossena?? At least Riise gave another attacking option in the form of 2-3 goals each season.
