We have no choice but to "wait and see" really, this is simply a forum where people express their views and as such we can't change anything. I strongly suspect though that we'll never know one way or another whether we would have prospered with Voronin/N'Gog as cover, because once the manager knows for certain what's happening with Alonso he'll buy somebody else to fill the role.

If he doesn't however, I think we will definately live to regret it.

For some reason Mick I have this feeling that Voronin is going to come back a different player this season.  By that I mean better.  Don't ask me why

It's Ok John I won't ask why :D In all seriousness though, he isn't actually too bad and is better than people on here have given him credit for in my opinion. If Torres stays fit absolutely all season, and we used Voronin as a sub (assuming he stays fit as well obviously) and on the odd occasion that Torres needs a rest (very odd occasion) we might just get away with it. If Torres were to pick up any sort of hamstring tweak though which kept him out for a month or so, it'd be all over rover fairly quick smart I think.

Voronin is Ok as a fourth choice IMHO, possibly at an extreme push a third choice. N'Gog simplyn isn't good enough IMHO. Some may say "yet" and I hope they're right, but if he makes a player at any stage he will have proven me totally 100% wrong.

And what do we do if Gerrard gets injured? we can hardly put Voronin in there I don't think, so I suppose we're staring down the gunbarrel at Yossi or Lucas. We defniately in my opinion need to sign somebody who can do the Gerrard/Voronin fill in. If we're skint, as I think you said as well John I'd go for Tuncay.

Well the local rag up here claims that Stuttgart want Tuncay for £9m. I like the player and think he'd do a good job for the majority of sides in the Premiership. Chelsea were linked with him a while back aswell.

Bigmick:

When it comes to players I haven't found someone I disagree on you with. Only the manager do we have a different view on  :D

I have the exact same sentiment with both Voronin and Ngog.
Voronin might have a little better season but I will need alot of faith in him if Torres becomes injured.

Same view as you about Ngog.
But I doubt we will bring in a new striker. Hard to find a quality striker willing to sit on the bench and won't cost alot.

I actually thought Crouch was a viable option. 9 million wasn't that much really.
Dunno if you agree.

Tuncay is an excellent shout and i heard boro were holding out for 5 million a week back or so. We should go for him as cover for gerrard , he can play on the right , through the middle and upfront , very versatile and is a creative player we need
