I'm with you brian,if Roy Evans had Henchoz,Hyypia,Babbel,Carragher defence he would of won the league and if the mancs had Ruddock,Scales,Babb,McAteer they would have won zip.

To be honest JBG the list just shows why we have fallen so far.
If they were were our best signings over the past 14 years I can only say that none of them would have got a game in any of the teams in the previous 14 years (except possibly Gary Mc who would have been younger and better).
Sami is a good player but he is not as good as say Hansen, Gillespie, Lawrenson or even Nicol and Wright.
Interesting Poll, but doesn't it show just how much the quality of our team and the overall squad has dropped dramatically - I didn't even mention all the obvious great players from the previous years. It's enough to make you cry!
Oh boy...sad, sad, sad!

I would say Sami could compete with Gillespie and Mark Wright. I was a huge fan of Mark Wright and had major respect for how he fought back for the reserves but Sami has been an excellent player as well.

I know what you mean Old Red Eyes.

There was such a shortage of good signings I ended up scraping the barrel by putting John Scales in there.

Harry Kewell for me is potentially one of the best signings this club has made. He could go on to become a great Liverpool player. Only time will tell i supose.

As for Sami.... Oldredeyes am sorry mate, i liked Mark Wright, he was a superb defender and we missed him the last couple of injury hit seasons before he retired but he wasn't better than Sami. I can't agree with that. Seeing both of them together would have been great but i really don't think he was a better player than big Sam. As for the others i haven't seen enough to comment, but i can tell you this, a few seasons ago i'd have said Sami was one of the top 6 or 7 in the world and now i'd still say he's in the top 10. He's a great player, playing in a not so great system which exposes his only real weekness.

Pace? But i think Cheyrou, Heskey and Diouf along with Ferri just all shade the rest and come joint second best signings ever. Undoubtably number 1 is IGOR BISCAN, IIIGORR BISCAN

I vote Baros because he will be massive for us next year if GH gives him a start. He has got skill, bags of pace, makes runs in dangerous areas and makes things happen...10/10 :)

You know when things are going well at LFC, we all start getting nostalgic about the years gone. I went for Gary Mac who inspired the team to great achievements in 2001> he's run close by Hyppia who turned our defence (With hencoz) into teh meanest around when it had been a joke the previous 5 years.  :p

Sammy Hyypia for me. A great signing.

Then Kewell and Baros.

In respect to all of them the list is full of great signings.

Gary Mac was fantastic in the treble season and Ill never forget his free kick at goodison  in the last kick of the game a few years back.

But i'd have to say to Hyppia on that list has benn our best signing, virtually unknown to a quality Centre half.

Have to agree with oldredeyes.
But from the list provided I'd pick Hypia apart from lack of pace  (:( ) he's got it all.
Thought at the time that Kewell was a brilliant signing but he hasn't produced his best since joining us......maybe next season ?   :)
