For any Liverpool player looking to leave, they should consider all the other players that have left and being less successful.  People thought we'd suck when Owen left.  We responded by winning 2 trophies and 4 finals in 2 years.  And what happened to Michael?

Masch to Chelsea?  Can't see it cos he apparently wants to leave England.  Masch to Barca:  Can't see it working out cos they like to pass the ball.  (masch just cant do this).  He'll most likely reunite with Rafa though.

Gerrard to Madrid:  hmm, his one ambition has been to lift the PL so I can't see why he'd join madrid.
Gerrard to Chelsea:  oh dear... not the Gerrard/lampard issue again..

Torres to Chelsea:  Quite possible if they have the cash.  They'll be challenging for top honours again next year and have a good manager.  Not to mention lots of cash. 
Torres to City?  Not sure why he'd join them to be honest.

Wait a minute scott , we were being told before Rafa got sacked that he had lost the dressing room and Gerrard and Torres were telling all in sundrie that it was them or Rafa . So they get shut of Rafa and well surely that means that Torres and Gerrard stay doesn't it ?  Or was it like some of us said , That gerrard and torres and other players wanted to go because they could see no investement coming in the summer and therefore no squad improvement (wether rafa was there or not ) and decided that they'd had enough of the clubs promises of investment and ship out . AND WHO COULD BLAME THEM . Absolutely feck all to do with Rafa loseing the dressing room ffs.

The problem i have is you speak as if you know.
As do people who are saying he had lost the dressing room and the players would only stay if he went.
We have not got a clue either way if we are all honest.

but for me he had to go, not to help persuade Gerrard and Torres to stay...no he had to go because he was shocking last season and we didnt look like winning trophies under him.

Mate, don't get too hot under the collar! Certainly there were a few stories (am sure Lakes may be responsible!) going around suggesting that 'player power' was the reason Rafa was moved on but I wouldn't tar everybody in here with the same brush. I don't think everyone bought into that theory, I know some (including myself) were wishing it to be true last Thursday because that would have made Gerrard/Torres sticking around far more likely going forward. Personally, in a football sense, I think Radfa had lost the dressing room, he couldn't turn things around and I feel the players had lost confidence in his methods (ie. the formation, his substitutions, the type of football they were trying to play, team selection etc) and you could see it on the pitch. However, that doesn't mean I believe senior players were stamping their feet and whispering discontent behind the managers back as soon as the season finished.

As for why Gerrard and Torres would want to go? Sure, they will be looking at the ownership situation, how much money there is to spend and i'm guessing that will have a MASSIVE influence on their decisions. But don't underestimate the influence of last season's MASSIVE underachievement on their decision making process.

Put the two together and unfortunatelyt, I don't think we will be able to keep either player.

The problem i have Ben is that ,there's two sides to ever story and that some posters on this forum pick/picked the ones that suited there agenda best and spouted it as if it was gospel . I have no doubt that some players disliked Rafa (do you like all the people you work with ?) but to change there tune as soon as one of there theories goes out of the wndow and then come up with a therory that's as mad as the last one .

I'm leaving it at that , it's past now . We all need to look to the future and see what it brings  .

I don't think posters would be so upset at the idea of a Roy Hodgson or a Martin O'Neil if they knew Gerrard and Torres were gonna give it anbother season regardless? The catch 22 is we probably need a big name to come in to keep these two at the club and that's why we're bricking it at the prospect of Hodgson being brought in despite the fact (on a day to day basis) he would be a massive upgrade on Rafa's performance this past season.

I don't even think I can answer the thread starter because I simply don't have a clue who the new man is gonna be and I don't think Kenny or the board have much idea either.

Van Gaal is still my biggest hope. I'd be absolutely DELIGHTED if we could land him.

Of the British options I would take Redknapp but I really can't see him leaving the couth coast (he has a luxury pad at sandbanks) for a club up north. Mind you this is Arry we're talking about.

And faced clubs who finished seventh or lower in their respective domestic leagues in the last four rounds of the Euro Disney League, the supposedly massive achievement that got Woy the MOTY - although that's even more meaningless than winning the competition

Benitez and his team couldnt turn Fulham over at Anfield and got a good hiding at Craven Cottage. Hodgson also took his boys to the final of the Europa League, a monster achievement for that football club and a far better effort than we managed. Please lets not fall into the trap of thinking managers from abroad are superior because its just not the case at all and infact Hodgson is a bit different because he made his name overseas not in the UK. If ever there was an Englishman with a foreign management style it would surely be him.Im not saying he should get the job but I do think we could do a lot worse and frankly fellas like him deserve a shot at a big club in England. He can improve players and thats something we did not enjoy under the previous regime where lads seemed to stay still or go backwards after signing on. Van Gaal and Hiddink are yes for me but if not Ive no problem letting a good manager and decent fella like Hodgson having his shot at Anfield. Liverpool havent always been about hiring flash managers with big reputations and lets not forget that historically weve only ever had two foreign managers in charge Houllier then Benitez and before that there was no hype about any of them, just good honest football people from these shores.

Yet hodgson has already failed at Inter and Blackburn as well - both bigger clubs than Fulham .

I would rather have Kenny than him by a mile .

Id take Dalglish back no problem but he was poor at Celtic and Newcastle. Benitez lost jobs at Vallodid, Osasuna and Extemadura. They all do bad jobs but they get good jobs on the back of the work they have done in their last post. Hodgson has done terrific at Fulham, no question about it.

At a small club where expectations are low - McClaren has just a good a record as Woy - should we look to him ?
