What is the current state of Liverpool FC Finances, with no signings so far and Steve Morgans offer being rejected. Also not to mention the shambles of the thai bids. Anyone who knows what the currebt state is let me know.

The man who came to merseyside from Newcastle, the man who says he's part of Liverpool as much as the Liver building. When he was needed Alan Kennedy was there. And with now just 8 minutes to go it could be that Alan Kennedy has made a little history.

i think we are not looking too hot at the moment as this thing with the thais and Morgan has shown that the club is in need of a cash injection and help towards the new stadium.

and with having already commited the funds for cisse i think we may have about £5 mil to spend with no sales or if players are sold then we would have more cash to use.

but again this is just my opinion and don't quote any figures as i could be miles off.

i'm still under the impression that a lot of our transfer budget for this summer was reliant upon the probable sale of gerrard to chelsea. of course i'm delighted that he stayed, but obviously that was 30-40m down the pan. :(

If we have a small or limited budget we will have to put our entire faith in Beni for this season and if its good enough for stevie g then its good enough for me and hopefully Owen will see it that way also.
I dont like our club to operate in public too much but I do find all the events in the boardroom a trifle strange and quiet. A month before Rafa came it was fireworks up there with bids and counterbids, people linking their futures with the management etc. We heard all about that but we have not heard how or if these issues have been resolved.

I cant see why Rafa would leave a sucessful club like Valencia to take over a club who aren't in the CL ( yet ) and be able to bring in players to make the team his own.

What ever happened to this proposed £30 million that was going to made available to GH!!!

Who says the £30mil isn't still there... i think Rafa Benitez is being very clever... he's waiting to assess his squad before he makes a decision on who he needs to bring in. He is obviously working within a budget so he need to see who he needs first and then he will bring them in. Whats the point in him going out and buying another defensive midfielder when we already ahve plenty. Maybe there is someone in the reserves  or yout set-up whi will get a chance now. I fully believe that there will be another 2-3 faces at Anfield befoe the new season starts but lets just wait and give him a chance

With Liverpool being in the CL, there is some 15 to 20 million to be made from tv money but it is dependent on Liverpool making it to the group stages.

The Thais earlier announced in the papers (mostly reported in the South East Asian region) that their financial due dilligence as of May 2004 that Liverpool has some 4 million cash, with assets of over 100 million (presumable including the players' market value) and more importantly, debts of 18.9 million. However, in view of the estimated assets value, this debt is not seen as at a worrying level.

This explains why Liverpool was looking for a cahs injection from the Thais which could give the club some 30 to 35 million with the balance going to Moores to compensate him for diluting his majority shareholding and presumably repaying his advances to the club of some 10 million.

Why are the figures "estimated"? Because Liverpool is not a public limited company and financial info is not readily available. I am posting what I read and gathered from the news that I get.

From what I last heard our debt is 18million (long term) with cash assets of 4million.

Might not sound impressive but its actually not too bad at all.

I think Houllier's 30m was either to come from the Thai money or the club borrowing against the Champions League next year.

What about getting rid of Diouf, the serial killer who became the "serial misser" under Houllier?

On top of that, there are Smicer, Diao and a host of other purchases who were hardly used and one should wonder why Houllier bought them in the first place.

Whsn a manager purchases players from another club, a bisic thing is to offer him an improved contract over his existing one to make him want to move. With the loads of squad players Houllier ammassed, it is no wonder that Liverpool is in debt as these people's salaries be very high. Logical, isn't it?

What have we herad about wages? Smicer 30,000 per week. Babbel 35,000 per week. Diuof is surely on around the same package as is Diao and perhaps Biscan.

I hope we don't wind up in a Leeds-style situation by borrowing on prospected gate receipts

I would want Murphy.
He works hard and isn't a blowout like Diouf.
In THIS preseason he's has showed some nouse with Cisse.
How much was Murphy??...10-9-8-7-6 ..?..?..?..?   million....?

If we really had money, we'd have brought f****** Pele back from the dead and God knows who. Look back at the 4 Euros and tell me those LFC teams were all "" All stars"" . B*****
It is the TEAM that will win again, not a bunch of hired stars.

I'll keep Murphy. :D

I think we have some transfer kitty, but not a lot without the intervention of the Thais ot Morgan or any new investors.

Having said that, Liverpool do have some debt but not at a critical level and the fact that we are in the CL will have a boost to the club's turnover. It has been reported that Liverpool have completed the signing of Josemi for some 2 million pounds.
