Liverpool close in on zaragoza's milito

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is stepping up his interest in Real Zaragoza centre-back Gaby Milito.
Zaragoza are £30m in debt and must sell at least one of their top stars this summer.

Argentina international Milito, 24, is a fearsome, no-nonsense stopper - a priority for Benitez. Manchester United were also keen on the player but Benitez's Spanish links will swing it for the Champions League winners.

Zaragoza are yet to secure Milito to a new deal, with negotiations due to begin this week.

I wonder how much he'd cost? Thoughts on the potential acquisition?

He'll cost around 4-5 mil but how good is the fella? Although if he's an argentine int. he should be pretty solid, and to back this up united are after him!! In all fairness hienze must have been putting in some good words to satan about his talent who he himself has been a pretty decent acquisition!

hes a good player. gets stuck in, not scared of the tackle.
altho we all hate manure we have seen that heinze was a great addition. this lad will be good for us 2. i can see him and carra forming a potentially lethal defence

He has the potential but not now as I see. But Rafa certainly looks keen to have him.

Personally I'll take Marchena.

This story has been running for a few weeks and I've looked into it.

By all accounts he is highly rated in Spain. Two years ago he almost signed for Real Madrid but he failed a medical on account of a persistent knee injury (how the hell did Woodgate pass then?). Apparently this injury has long since cleared up and he's now fighting fit.

I haven't seen him play, but he's highly regarded in La Liga.

I've heard good things about him as well. Bit of pace as well.
