The way i see it, and no real insight here, we are probably gone for all money now in the Prem. Not totally, but probably. That said, we are all makign the assumption that the Mancs will continue as strongly as they are currently going. If they lost two on the bounce, we'd be back in it. Unlikely possibly, but by no means impossible.
As for today, we didn't lose the title in that match. They aren't a bad side by any means and showed it second half, and given their recent aquisitions I would think they are at least the same sort of standard as Everton, and possibly better.
If we have lost it, we probably lost it earlier in the season with all the draws. For now, we have to i guess really focus ont he Champions League, and hope the Mancs fall in a bit of a hole.
Not really that much changed today though. We didn't play awful, we just failed to beat Man City at Home. One of those things, and I hope it doesn't descend into anarchy on here as a result of it.
Mick, but what I would like to know is what is required now for Rafa to keep his job?
It seems clear to me that more and more fans are feeling a bit cheesed off with the lack of depth of quality in the sqaud and poor results.
I honestly don't think he will be sacked but I think for the season to not be a complete failiure we need to really push for winning the European Cup.

Im afraid the CL is going to Barca this season and I didnt want us to win it anyway I wanted the prem but it looks like its gone again for another season and through no one elses fault but our own.

When the s.hit hits the fan....the team will step it up a gear - and they look a hell of a lot better outfit because of that mindset. You've only to look at the games where we have come from behind in earlier in the season to realise the obvious.
But, this is Rafa Benitez' philosophy - and in his world...he is comfortable operating under those conditions. Grind the opposition down and hit them with a swift counter....(Even when playing at Anfield often times)
I too would like to see more confidence in the players by way of them having a real good go for the first twenty minutes or so...THEN assess the situation. Rather than waiting for a chance to have to react to something which has already occured.....sometimes with too little time left in which to affect that change. Instead of preventing the opportunity in the first place. I'm not advocating the bull in a china shop approach, lets be clear - but teams who are put straight on the backfoot from the outset have a much likelier chance of becoming wary and less confident that they are able to grab something, or simply pressed into making errors which undoubtedly unsettles their plans...making THEM think about how to adapt. Not the other way round.
We have the first team to do that to nigh on any side in Europe on our day - it would be nice to be willing and capable of taking the fight to ALL our opposition, every man jack of them. Lets face it - it works, when you have the players to do it that is. And going down into the depths of this squad is where the sticking points occur, and until the general quality is raised further - this 'lets wait and see' mentality will probably stay in vogue. And propogate yet more 'might have beens' - or if you prefer colloquisms....'Ifithadnerbinfers'
Sadly, this season's end of term report is heading towards realising that epitaph increasingly with each game chalked off the board. Hope, now.....thats where we are at.
