LIVERPOOL 0 - 1 BARCELONA - ALL VICTORIOUS DISCUSSION HERE PLEASE...

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I could understand it if i hadn't come back to congratulate your team. I know this poster doesn't represent the majority of your fans, but still feels like the knife's being twisted.

Honestly I think that people hasn't made a lot of blood with Barcelona around here. Even with a 1-2 the people were cautious and had butterflies in the stomach before the game. There was lot of respect, and many people went to receive Barcelona to the John Lennon airport in a friendly manner.

After reading here that Barcelona was a superior team, favourites, after reading in the Barcelona press how much better they were, do you think it's OTT that one, two, or even 5 posters say something like "eat that! where are the Barça fans now?" I don't think so, it's the least you could expect.

The Barcelona fans in my local forum still haven't the guts to face me, they have the quotes I made in December the 15th saying it would be a tough draw and Barcelona would face a very organised and good defence waiting for them. THey laughed then, they said they already showed against ARsenal how superior they were. Now I've remembered all that quotes and they don't seem to feel like posting.

I won't say that Barcelona fans have no class though, it's just that supporters. Your manners for instance are classy and polite, but some posters and some comments after or before a game say little about a whole crowd.

-sighs-

RTE = "BBC Eire"

Liverpool only had "hard work" to offer?

Is that supposed to be a negative? Is hard work a bad thing for a team to offer?

Gerrard's talent is a myth?

It was posted earlier by Dawson I think, anyway it deserves a couple of comments

And Alonso was never there, you know.

Actually, even Hibernians would have eliminated yesterday Barcelona with tenacious work, you know.

The most funny part was when one is asked "but you said in the half time that Benitez got his tactics right" and he takes it almost as a personal insult "No, I doubt I said that".

Un-believable, even the Barcelona press is acknowledging our defensive helps, tactics, pressure, physical preparation and said we were unlucky not to score in the first half.

I'm sometimes surprised with some criticism I read, but if this is the people who generates opinion... I'm not surprised any more. Although I find difficult that anyone that has seen more than 10 matches would buy that cráp.

Just found these by Dunphy on Wilkipedia..

Dunphy makes regular visceral attacks on players and managers he watches, for instance;

on 8 March 2006 when speaking on RTÉ television in the aftermath of Liverpool's exit from the Champions League at the hands of SL Benfica. In a characteristically harsh assessment of the Liverpool team, Dunphy said of their Spanish winger Luis García:

"They (Liverpool) should put Garcia where he belongs - in the dustbin."

he also said:

"here we have Cisse, right wing, attempts to put in a cross, BANG...hits the full back, again BANG hits the full back, BANG...off the full back again, and once more, BANG...smacks the full back again.... Millions of euro and he can't clear the first man, I mean...what's he trying to do to the full back here, Kill him??"
He wasn't finished there though. When asked what he thought of Harry Kewell (who had also played for Liverpool that night) he was blunt:

"Fat and a clown. A fat clown for all to see."
