Carra should well have a place over Ferdinand

Last season and this season particularly Carraghers being consistant throughout games and doesnt often make mistakes. Hes always 100% forcussed on the job he has to do, which makes a good player.

A person whos getting a bit past his prime now is Beckham. He used to be a fantastic player but he seems to have lost a lot of that now.

I agree with this comment entirely but Beckham is seen by many as Mr England and is one of Sven's favourites, so he won't be dropped anytime soon.  :(

I know that :no

I think some England fans would be sad if Beckham lost his place and others would think its his time

little and large to the extreme!!!

yeah- did you see Crouchinho get stuck in when one of the Uruguay players started pushing SWP around! Hardly a tough guy but looked like the big guy sticking up for the little guy getting pushed around in the playground!!

Asides from this- though it was a good game. We went behind to an unstoppable goal then fought back well to win the game. Ferdinand was unreliable and Cara should get the nod ahead of him.

It might sound odd, but I was glad to see Crouch wading in.  Rafa told him he was too nice when he came to Liverpool.  He's toughened up a bit, which will serve him well in some games for Liverpool and England.

I'm just starting to get excited about the World Cup now.  I think I'll get myself a Wallchart!

Yeah - it was great to see Crouch getting involved. Not unprecedented, let's not forget - he put Robbie Savage on his a*se earlier on in the season.

Crouch's goal and general performance when he came on can only bode well for us in coming weeks - he looked sharp and confident out there. The Uruguay central defence had been solid all night, but they didn't have a clue what to do with him.

To Oasis earlier in the thread though - you'd seriously have Downing over Joe Cole? ???

Whilst Joe Cole is a great player, I don't believe he should be stuck out on the left flank. Sure he plays well there but I'd rather have a natural left sided player on the left flank.

But you didn't have him in your team at all mate.
Downing looks promising but was unfortunate to have been injured for the first half of the season, so now we do not know whether he could make the step up at this stage of his career.
Cole had a great game last night, and was the only player that looked like creating anything really.
He was overdoing it at the end and still needs to be careful on losing possesion in dangerous areas.....as does Rio, some shocking lapses of concentration that confirm to me that he will either be immense at the world cup or an accident waiting to happen.
