League table

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby DAV » Mon Nov 08, 2004 8:49 am

just got my morning paper and seen the league table

we r a third of the way through the season, and we r 8th

well u probabley think (well der we can all read 2)

I'm just looking at the teams above us and i'm thinking r we better than them and will we finish above them.

Chelsea- we r not on the same planet as them

Arsenal- same as above

Everton- Don't know why they r doing so well. But they seem to gel as a team. Also in January they have the money from Rooney. So they can strengthen their squad. (probabley buy a striker and a central midfielder.) So looking even though its everton we may struggle to pass them

Bolton- Great manager, with a good solid squad. Seems to just keep buying quality. So again may be hard to pass

Middlesboro- Hasselbank and viduka. Both excellent buys.
so they will always score goals. Defence is questionable. (GUN HO seems to be their method) So they could end up anywhere.but then again so could we.

Aston villa- i think these r underachievers with their squad. Angel is quality. so again capable of finishing above us.

Man utd- currently having alot of problems . Will probabley be fighting with us 4 the last uefa cup place.

So all i'm saying is.
Strikers- well theirs Baros and 2 be honest thats about it.
Kewell- seems to be lazy and wont help us up front
pongolle- dont think at the moment he will solve our scoring problems

so where we going to finish honestly? ????

4th at least.  I dont care what people say I ahve watched Bolton and Aston Villa and Everton (on tv as I'm in australia) and they all play incredibly hard making up for a lack of ability with sheer effort and workrate.  None of those squads are deep enough to sustain that all season.  I suspect they'll be similiar to Charlton last season a lot of work first half of the season but unable to sustain it and so all that effort for no reward.  Middlesborough are a different story but if they lose Hasslebaink or Viduka for a while they really dont have any other quality strikers and as you said their defence is questionable.  We will finish fourth at least.

Wait till they get injuries, and they have a player burnout in january being overwhelmed at being 3rd or 4th :D

Exactly, no club can go a whole season without some major injury to at least one player.... or at least we cant anyway  :(

this is certainly not the fault of the manager
he came in bort some talent but still needs to get his own squad and get them playing how he wants them.
i just think this season is going to be struggle.

Of course we were going to struggle as soon as decision was made that Houiller couldnt get us any further up the totem pole there was always going to be pain before gain when you bring in a new boss.
This was also compounded by the late arrivals of our major signings, late shock depature of MO, the injuries.
Yet we are 8th with a game in hand (fifth if we win it) and still in the hunt for second stage CL.
All things considered we are in lot better shape then what i thought we would be

we will be top 4 end of the season, we still have a game in hand which if we win we go to 5th, so all is not as bad as it seems.

The problem is that we are not doing much to convince Stevie Gerrard to stay.  I think he will be off next summer (for the sake of his career).  We are still too predictable - as soon as I saw Baros out I knew we wouldn't score. I even bet on it.

Don't over react but I think Middlesborough and Bolton are better sides than us at the moment.

Middlesbrough and Bolton are good sides but I think we will finish above them.

I agree with you in that I think Gerrard will be off in the summer. If we get 30MIL for him at least we could strenghen our squad in all departments and we have Xabi Alonso to replace him.

4th. Arsenal win the title. Man U win the Champions league. It's horrible and thinking about it keeps me awake at night but I have a feeling. They're out of the league even now so they'll be able to rest players etc. Don't hate me for saying it.

I think Chlesea could win the title this year, they have a lot of class and depth in their side.

ManU will have a good run in the CL bigmick, but i can't see them winning it when sides like Barca and AC Milan are there too name but a few.
