The next 5 games look OK for us actually.

With Alonso and Arbeloa returning next week we should hopefully have a fully fit squad. That sees us well placed for the coming games.

well... its a similar case for Liverpool despite many not knowing that...

We've already played CHELSEA, ARSENAL, VILLA, EVERTON, MCITY, TOTTENHAM, NEWCASTLE, BLACKBURN, BOLTON all away...  most of the teams we drew with at home (take Stoke our next fixture, or Westham for example) we'r expected to beat on the road...

Top Ten 07/08 and where Liverpool/Man Utd have played them 08/09

LIVERPOOL

1. Man Utd (h)
2. CHELSEA (A)
3. ARSENAL (A)
4. Liverpool n/a
5. BITTERS (A)
6. VILLA (A)
7. BLACKBURN (A)
8. Portsmouth (h)
9. CITEH (A)
10. West Ham (h)

So we've played 7/9 of last season's top 10 AWAY

Man Utd
1. Man Utd n/a
2. CHELSEA (A)
3. ARSENAL (A)
4. LIVERPOOL (A)
5. BITTERS (A)
6. VILLA (A)
7. BLACKBURN (A)
8. PORTSMOUTH (A)
9. CITEH (A)
10. West Ham (h)

8/9 AWAY, not that West Ham, citeh, pompey and rovers are any great shakes - two are struggling against relegation.

As for the next five games, we need to put a winning run together. Runs of seven wins or more in a row are the TRUE signs of champions, not scrappy wins or scoring loads or conceding few. To reach anything like 27 wins in a season you are going to be winning 3/4 of your games and the best way to put pressure on your rivals is winning, winning, winning and winning. They have no choice but to win to keep up or be left behind.

We won 10 in a row back in 05/06, finished with 82 points - nuff said. Having had a bad start to the season in 07/08, the mancs won EIGHT (league) games in a row after their derby defeat. They stuttered a bit more than usual last season, but managed seven wins in a row at least twice in 06/07.
