Last six fixtures (current position and reverse fixture result)

Charlton (h) 12-04-04 (8th, L2-3 at The Valley)
Fulham (h) 17-04-04 (10th, W2-1 at Loftus Road)
Man Utd (a) 24-04-04 (3rd, L1-2 at Anfield)
Middlesboro (h) 01-05-04 (11th, D0-0 at The Riverside)
Birmingham (a) 08-05-04 (6th, W3-1 at Anfield)
Newcastle (h) 15-05-04 (5th, D1-1 at St James Park)

We picked up 8 points from a possible 18 in the reverse fixtures. The same fixtures last season produced WWLDLD = 8 points so the omens are not good.

How will we do in the remaining games and where will we finish?

I reckon we'll pick up about 10 pts and it will still be good enough to scrape into the CL as every other team up there seems to be dropping points.
Gonna go down to the wire with Newcastle on the last day and we usually do ok against them.

Newcastle will win all their home games. I can't see us winning against boro, manure, birmingham & newcastle. Let me stick my neck out and say that, the game against boro will end in 0-0 (similar to everton). GH will say it was a great game for the neutrals. He will add that we deserve to win the game. He then finally points out that we have the most shots at goals in the league............ still have 3 weeks to that match.

Actually i don't think we will win against charlton if we play like we did against arsenal.

Charlton (h) 12-04-04 - Should win IF BAROS & HENCHOZ come back. 2-0.
Fulham (h) 17-04-04 - Stick with the above player, shd win 2-1.
Man Utd (a) 24-04-04 - I just can't bring myself to predict this match........
Middlesboro (h) 01-05-04 - GH brings back biscan & heskey. Match ends 0-0.
Birmingham (a) 08-05-04 - lose 2-1.
Newcastle (h) 15-05-04 - draw 1-1.

total 8 points. GH will be confirmed sack.... at last. :D

I'm not sure how many points will be needed to get fourth or even if I want it. I'd like to think Kermit will go even if we get fourth, but obviously there is an agenda we're not aware of. Maybe the board think stability is the way to go, but the danger is we could slip further into mediocrity.

We could win all the games but experience tells me we probably won't. 10 points might be a good guess given that we should beat Fulham and Charlton at home, and a win and draw from games against the scum, Newcastle, Birmingham and Boro is not unrealistic. 13 points or more would mean a minimum of four wins and a draw - that would be require a considerable upturn in form

Some interesting stats :-

Results this season

Top Three : P5 W1 D0 L4 (W20%, D0%, L80%)
Top Half : P13 W4 D2 L7 (W31%, D15%, L54%)
Bottom Half : P19 W9 D8 L2 (W47%, D42% L11%)
Bottom Three : P6 W3 D3 L0 (W50%, D50%, L0%)

Just goes to show we are not cutting it against top half teams and that makes up 5 of our last 6 fixtures. Quite an interesting pattern emerging, though failing to win more than 50% in any category is pretty poor.

Using the above as a predictor -

Man Utd - 80% chance we'll lose.

Charlton, Fulham, Birmingham & Newcastle - 31% chance we'll win any one of those fixtures, 54% chance we'll lose any one of those fixtures

Middlesboro - 47% chance we'll win, 42% chance we'll draw

However, we have won 9/15 home games so the probability of us winning a home game is arguably 60% while we have won only 4/17 away games (24%) and drawn 8/15 away games (53%). Using this as a guideline we have a good chance of beating Newcastle, Charlton and Fulham, though we have lost to the top three at home and deeper analysis of home form could also come into the equation. 7 of the 9 home wins have come against teams in the bottom half of the table, thus negating much of the meaning of home form.

Put simply my friends, it doesn't look good :O

i really dont fancy us in both away matches, although the home form is dodgy I do feel we will win all 4 home games, 12pts will be enough.  :)

We've only beaten five top half sides all season, only two of those at home. I don't hold out much hope for us getting more than 10 points but you never know with Liverpool at the moment.

I just hope the board do the business and get rid of Houllier at the end of the season

The game isn't played on paper kid.

And if they don't get rid of Houllier will you please "support" someone else??

I can't be doing with another season of reading how you wish we'd lose so he'd get sacked.

We'll get 11points and finish 4th.

We'll beat charlton,fulham and boro
we'll draw newcastle and birmingham
and we'll lose to utd.

Bear in mind newcastle have some tough matches.

Newcastle got a point today , will probably beat Chelsea and definitly Wolves at home , City and Villa Away will yield them 4 pts IMO so they will arrive at Anfield with 10 pts more than they have at present. Liverpool draw with brum and utd say and Win both Charlton and Fulham games to get 8 pts. The critical match will undoubteadly be Boro who are a pain in the ***** to beat when they play Away. I hope we dont have to win last day of the season to secure 4th cos if we do I fear the worse !!!! :(
