Lakshmi mittal - This guy could be our new owner

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I am adamant there will be an official statement regarding the investment by the end of the season. Perhaps even in the next 3 weeks depending on how quickly people like to negotiate.
My new blog for my upcoming holiday.

£30-60 million on a wedding and i bet the DJ at the disco still had the birdie song and 'come on eileen' in his cd collection.  :D

Seriously though i want to get excited about something like this but how many of us can honestly say that they believe this is actually going to happen. The rumour has popped up from nowhere only a couple of days after the comments from the club hinting at possible investment sometime soon. That is always going to start the rumour mill running at full belt and linking every rich businessman with an investment in the club. This Lakshmi Mittal is somebody i hadn't heard of 'til i read this thread yesterday and i bet the majority on here are in the same boat as me; here is a pic of the guy himself Image

If anybody has seen him in the crowd at anfield recently let us know  :) .
If there is any kind of investment in the offing the smart money IMO would have to be on it coming from the Kraft family as we know there has been some contact between the club and them in the past; eventhough Parry claims it was nothing to do with pumping them for money.

Looking at the Forbes top 25 rich-list it'd be great if we got some investment from somebody like this Mittal geezer as he's worth around $23.5 billion and Abramovich is nowhere near that rich; man that'd piss the chelsea fans off (and probably the bluenoses as well.My only concern would be about the guy's background and would hope that his involvement would go as far as investment as he has been involved in a bit of contraversy in the past.

Well I for one don't want Liverpool FC to be bought out by some uninterested Tycoon.

We all hate Sh*tski and the Scum, partly for that reason.

Investment - yes.

Buy David Moores out - F*CK OFF.

Don't wanna create a new thread...and don't wanna put this in rumours thread (as nobody goes there)...

So i shall put it here......What i hear is that rafa has been promised a lot of dosh in the summer when he was offerred a contract extension (could be due to the new investment we are getting)..... So he could be starting his summer spending right now.

Found a few sources about dafoe..here's the story.

1)
http://www.koptalk.com/detail_subtitle_listing.php?link_id=1621

Newspaper reports today claim that Liverpool are prepared to offer up to £9million in the summer for striker Jermaine Defoe.

Manager Rafael Benitez tried to sign the 23-year-old during the January transfer window but Spurs rejected our late advances.

Initial reports had stated that Liverpool would try and Bag Defoe for around £11million but the latest claims suggest that Spurs will sell for £9million with Reds chief executive Rick Parry tipped to start negotiations with a cheeky £7million offer.

Meanwhile the same journalists behind the Defoe speculation also state that Rafa will try and sign Spurs centre-back Michael Dawson.

It's not the first time that Dawson has been linked with us as Gerard Houllier also tried to sign him.

The KopTalk editor is close to the Dawson family and that's why we have always maintained that the player would be keen on a switch to Anfield.

Reports claim that Rafa will offer £8million for Dawson in the summer.

3)have to say i am delighted about the pennant story....

http://www.talklfc.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=20570

Jermaine Defoe has once again emerged as one of Rafa Benitez's main transfer targets this summer. The rumour that a London based businessman could be ready to invest a substantial amount of cash into the club, puts the transfer price at ten million pounds.

Defoe had a rare start for Spurs yesterday as they beat Birmingham City two nil. Another player in that match who has been linked with a move to Anfield before was Jermaine Pennant. Pennant could be lined up in the summer to fill the right wing position which has caused Benitez so many headaches over the past two years.

Jon Woodgate is expected to be sold by Real Madrid aswell this summer as they are looking to overhaul their squad. Middlesborough and former club Newcastle are expected to be front runners for the injury prone defender but Benitez was interested when he first came to the club. With Gabriel Paletta and Daniel Agger now signed up, it seems unlikely that he would take a risk on Woodgate though.

Whether Robbie Fowler has done enough to convince his manager that he still has what it takes to be a Liverpool player will become clear next month. Fowler signed a contract for the remainder of the season in January and both the Toxteth Terror aswell as his manager told the world how delighted they were with the deal.

Fowler has lost a lot of weight since then and seems a lot fitter than he has been in recent years. If he does not get a serious injury before May, Benitez is expected to keep him after the commitment and form he's shown on the pitch.

He's been shopping the EU steel industries for quite sometimes to strengthen his steel empire. Recently, he lost a bid for the french steel company (if i'm not mistaken). Probably, that's why he doesn't know what to spend the money.

If he's in as an investor and get his return by profit sharing, I think it should be good. But, if he comes in to own LFC or become the biggest shareholder, I don't think it's good for LFC. We can end up just like Chels**t and not respected by the world. Main reason is simple, he's a businessman and always a businessman. I'm not sure whether he's a football fan or LFC fan or neither both. At the end of the day, he's concerned about how much is getting into his pocket.....

The thing is mate - when you've got £23,000,000,000 - you ain't that fussed about losing £100m on a punt.

Seriously - if this chap has got that sort of money, £100m to him is like 20p to you and me.

I don't want a punk running our club.

Poxy rich b*stard.   :D

Spot on mate. Stevie Morgan was our best bet but he's got differences with Moores.

Whatever happened to the yanks with the gillette stadium deal? Did he back off on the deal or there never was any?

i wouldn't mind checking down the back of his couch if 20p is like 100 mill lando

the tread ciggy started a while ago covered the fact that most people realise that we will none of the things that we would all like to see in the near future with out investment,  steve morgan didn't have a pot to wee in compared to this bloke, but would we be his new play thing till he gets bored, well the worst that could happen is that he clears all the debts and gets the ball rolling on a new stadium and i final get my season ticket five years now

i can't see rafa going down the isle maureen has chose by blanket bombing the transfere market to stop any one else haveing any players, he would still build a team of non pre madonnas.

for me the kraft family are the best bet it is just a good feeling and not based on any research or stats, so don't jump on me i just reckon there back ground in sport and the big usa market could be the way foward for the club

Even if we did ever recieve the offer for that sort of funding im sure Parry would for the good future of the club would take the offer. But at the same time I dont think we would be as silly and disrespectful as Chelskum are in the trabsfer market. People respect Liverpool becasue its one of the great clubs in football history.

Ive just read another story on this guy surfacing on newsnow ticker. Thats the third one in 3 days now for this guy.
