Lucas by a :censored: mile . Been the most consistant ,most improved and here's one for the yanks Most Valuable Player (as in workrate and valuable to the team ) all season . The lad is a trojan and a pretty gifted one at that . He's no gerrard or mascherano or alonso ,he's lucas and he brings his own qualities to the team . He's formed a great partnership with meireles and latterly with spearing . His covering all across the middle is outstanding and his ability to keep the ball moving has improved greatly . I would be more than happy to say he is now a quality midfielder .

Kuyt has had a great season, all credit to him but Lucas has smoothed the transition into the post-Gerrard era. I wouldn`t say Kuyt is the future, whereas Lucas is.

Steve Clarke :D

And if I can't have the member of the coaching staff who has made massive improvements to the way we set out out players then I am going for Lucas on the basis that Gerrard has hardly played and Suarez has only just started his LFC tenure.

I've been mightily impressed with Meireles though.

Next season lets hope its a close run thing between 8 or 9 players as opposed to only 2 or 3 this (Lucas,Dirk and Reina)

Lucas followed by Kuyt and Meireles at a distant third.

Tough decision, but I went with Kuyt. Lucas comes second. They both probably deserve it becouse they have been the most devoted and committed players and those are the things that we needed the most this season. Both kind of lack tallent and skill though. That's why I still wouldnt mind benching them for next season and find someone better to play in their positions, even though they have been our best players for this season.

Also, I'll have to mention Reina, Meireles and Kelly for their good performance of this season.

Lucas...... no contest.

For me it's unbelievable how much he is stil under appreciated by so many fans..... but I guess his style is unspectacular so doesn't often catch the eye. If it weren't for him and Mereiles we would have been in dire trouble this year.

I'd go for Lucas. Has been a rock all season. Everyone's come good under Kenny but if it wasn't for his injury I'd have said Kelly would have pushed him close

Martin Kelly. He has come into the team and hasnt looked out of place in any of the appearances he has made.

Reina easy. Without him in goals we would be a lot closer to the relegation zone.

I guess Lucas is second, but he took his damn time to get some consistency in his football. I would not call him a success story yet, lets see how next season starts off.

You could argue against the Reina point, I would say he's cost us as many points as he's saved us.  He has had a below par season he's even admitted it.  I still remember the howler he had against Arsenal when we went up 1-0, that could have made our season a lot different.. but anyway, I'm glad Roy eventually got the sack and that played a part so it's not all bad. :D
