Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Roy Keane On .tv

Roy Keane has responded to praise from Rafa Benitez with a prediction that Liverpool could win the Premier League this season.
Benitez claimed at a press conference on Thursday that the Sunderland boss could one day join the legion of great managers.

As his side prepares to welcome the Reds to the Stadium of Light, Keane replied: "I really rate Liverpool and I think that with the signings they have made and the way the club has developed, they are stronger this season than they were last.

"Liverpool are a very good team and I watched them play brilliant football last week. The fact is, they will believe that with the squad they have they can win the title this season.

"I don't think you can look further than the established top four when you're looking at who will win the league. People talk about Tottenham breaking into that group but I'm not so sure."

Roy Keane has won it all.  He ain't bitter just cranky most of the time.  There is a difference, and you accuse the guy of being alot of things but he doesn't do bull :censored:.

I take this as a compliment. The Manure connection aside Keane is a born winner and  an uncomprimising professional who deserves respect.
His players will be hyped up and really up for this game - it will be no pushover.

He's just replying to Benitez praising him for doing a great job of getting Sunderland promoted last year, I don't think Keanes being a smart :censored: just giving credit when credits due, and Rafa definetly deserves it for what he's doing at Liverpool.

He said Liverpool can win the league, I have to agree with the bloke! :)

This is like on Championship manager where somebody says something nice about you and you reply being nice about them.  I personally hope Rafa has him cursing our name for the rest of time by humilating that thuggish :censored: utterly tommorow.

Coming from an ex-Manc, and before a game, and at this stage of the season, I can see only adulation in this words in order to soften our "togetherness" and will to fight every game of the league we seem to have this season.

I'll value his words if he says this after our win against them.

if you read his words carefully he doesnt go as far as saying HE (as in keane himself) thinks we can win the league, what he is basically saying is that we (liverpool) fancy our own chances this year.
i suppose he`s got to choose his words carefully and thats fair enough.
