Just a peculiar thing - League positions

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby the_red_alonso » Mon Jan 16, 2006 3:40 pm

This has nothing about some serious talk but its a peculiar statistic.
Here are the league positions of Rafa's two big teams as manager:
2001/02 :1st(Valencia)
2002/03 :5th(Valencia)
2003/04 :1st(Valencia)
2004/05 :5th(Liverpool)
2005/06 :..........?
You can see that a particular pattern of league positions is being followed(that might be a good omen this season we could finish 1st)
This is just a statistic but quite interesting.I know winning
doesnt depend on previous stats n all but this is jst a peculiar
thing abt Rafa's league positions. What is ur say?

I agree statistics in the past doesn't have anything to do with winning but little coincidences like this do add fuel to the fire. Remember last season all the  statistics about us winning the Champions League. I know a lot of people have wrote the league off this year, but to quote Rafa "Keep believing". If we win our games in hand its 11 points, and they could still lose it, after last years final in Istanbul anything if possible.

MAKE US DREAM.

I can't see us clawing back that lead from Chelsea. Not that I don't have massive confidence in LFC but I can't see where else Chelsea are going to be challenged. Man Utd and Arsenal are too lightweight and, although someone like Spurs, Bolton, Man City might take points off Chelsea it's a massive ask for our boys!!

that is why liverpool need to stay sharp; no draws, no losses, just win games.

Rafa ~ "It is important that we do not care about the league standings. Just win the games and we should be all set"

We can only hope that chelsea will lose or draw some of the matches. Should we win the two on-hand matches, we would be 5 points clear off manure and 11 points away from chelsea.

Well history repeated itself constantly throught last seasonh in the CL and there were a lot more of them various good omens in the stats so seeing this sort of thing gets my hopes up but it is a big ask to beat chelsea to the title and highly unlikely but not impossible...if we beat manure ons unday and win our 2 games in hand we go 8 points ahead of manure and will easily be chelseas main contenders

This was already posted on here a little while back, I remember.

Hopefully, the pattern continues on. JUST FOR THIS SEASON, THOUGH. Then, the new pattern of 1st, 1st, 1st, 1st is born. :D

Hard to see Chelsea, with the depth they have and Mourinho's playing philosophy of not conceding goals as a priority, faltering. If anything, Chelsea will draw games rather than lose because of the way they set out to play and their rigid playing discipline.

Most likely scenario is that they would fall to a goal down, as was the case against Sunderland and Bolton, and from them chase for the equaliser or win. They are not exciting to watch despite having all of that talent at their disposal, but effective.

Next season should be a better one for us in terms of challenging Chelsea for top spot.

I'll just wait and see when Rafa's wife says we'll win the league. She is never wrong, and predicted us to win the Champions League ages before we were even in the round of 16.
