Josemi...

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

its not that sami loses the ball, its that he hasnt got the right player beside him yet. but carragher will become that person. josemi has only just joined as i mentioned before and is class at getting forward and tackles like any english defender. riise is good at left back and can run the flanks as well.

lets top the bashing of the players for a bit, its a new system, new manager, new players, need a bit of time and weve seen some good signs

You sure about that? I remember clearly you comparing him to Gary Neville.

Your point being?

lets top the bashing of the players for a bit

Who's bashing players?

Simply stating Josemi isn't the quality we need.

We need someone as good as Babbel for this to be an outstanding defence again. Weathers its a right back or centre half (shouldn't make to much of a difference) we need someone of that class. Josemi, as good as he is isn't in this class of player i'm affraid. I can't see him getting there either although i hope i'm wrong.

And Huslter... no-one cares what u have to say lad, if you had your way we'd have Matteo instead of Hyypia... Also, what happened to living in church road Northwhich? You moved to Chester recently? :)

Nothing wrong with living in Northwich, I work there and live 7 miles away  :;):

I agree that other areas need strengthening Stu but it's not like we spent £6m on him but £2m is fook all in the transfer market these days and for £2m we got a bargain like we did with Sami.

Rafa has told Josemi to prioritise his defending for now and he can start attacking in the future, I think he's done well since being here, yeah ok we have Carragher but it's good to have competition/cover for positions, I don't think Finnan is in his long term plans so when Rafa has 'his squad' rather than the one he has inherited then I think buying Josemi will make more sense  :;):

To sum it up I really like Josemi as he's a no nonsense defender, he puts that red shirt on and gives 100%, if he needs to put someone in the adverising boards then he will

IMO Josemi would be able to move up a gear or two after he settles down. The guy can attack and defend well.

I saw him against Roma on the US tour and Beni let him get forward in that game, he put some good crosses in which is something we lack at times :)

I don't think it's fair to slate Josemi like that. He is as good as Riise, both of them do a good job.
His tackling is very good, and his offence, but he is let down by a lack of pace when chasing down the faster wingers in the Premiership.
He can play anywhere along the back four though supposedly, and we haven't seen how he performs at Centre Half yet. He is a very good addition to the squad, a steal at 2m.

2 million in today's market is a steal.  I did not see anything of him before he came but from his performances this season, he seems to be a touch rash in his challenge.  Finnan just isnt good enough, and Josemi looks like he could develop into a good player.  Certainly good enough to dislodge Finnan.

I think Hypia who has been great for us over the years, but he needs a major rethink, which I am not sure he is capable of.  He is making one or two big errors in each game.  We can't afford to keep on hoofing the ball and bypassing the midfield.  Especially with Alonso and Gerrard in there, both of whom are capable of pulling the strings.  Riise looks a little more determined this season and is certainly making his presence felt with his crunching tackles, but still takes too long distributing the ball.  He treats every kick of the ball as if he he's teeing up a free kick.

Talk of carra possibly going is absolute rubbish, he has been immense this season and Rafa has taken note, and has praised him highly in the press.

Well after another performance i'm still waiting to see this "class" he possesses?

Like i said, good player but i'd rather the money gone to a position we need more deperately.

Had a bad game today.

Not in Babbel's class i'm affraid.
