Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Jari Litmanen was a genius ,tactically he was superb a great footballing brain and excellent link up play ,so it really doe's beggar belief when Houllier seldom played him , so is it just me who has come to this conclusion Houllier resents anyone at the club who is more tactically astute than himself it was well written that Jari was more than useful at devising game plans prior to a big match maybe this stuck in Le Bosse's  throat  and apparrently the same can be said for Babbel who was forever voicing his opinions on game ploys on the back of the Echo ,maybe Henchoz as spoken up once to often as he now finds himself bannished into footballing obscurity because of the emergence of a more capable custodian in defence ? NOW I KNOW HOULLIERS PULLING OUR PIS*ERS even he cant expect us to believe that can he ? :(  :(  :(

I agree.  Litmaanen was a genius, but that type of player does not fit in.  Anelka is a genius, he has gone.  I still think Berger was a good player---- gone.  Damien Duff SHOULD have been bought and not Kewell.  HK is not good enough.

Litmanen was great, he brought something diffrent to the team. Do you remember when he played with fowler a few times? they were a great partnership. Yet Houllier stuck with owen and heskey. He obviously coudnt handle all that flair with litmanen and fowler on show

Spot on about Litmanen & Anelka and to an extent about Berger. I would love to have seen Berger's potential if he had been able to stay injury-free

As for Kewell he IS good enough but can be bone idle at times. He needs a manager who can give him a boot up the a#se (ie not GH). Kewell's our second highest scorer this season which shows what he's capable of if he pulled his finger out.

It must really have stuck in Houlliers craw to think we finally had an inventive fluent link between midfield and the forwards no not negative enough your to positive Jari you can play for Liverpool only if you play in defence we dont want this team to be assosciated with attacking play, that will never do ? a more cautious approach is whats needed against these football titans like Leicester and Sunderland and we dont need to presume were better than them so out you go Jari and take that natural goalscorer with you whats his name yes Fowler the lad who has the affrontery to talk back and Question my Law i mean Authority , i mean word ,oh you know what i mean get rid SORRY CAME OVER ALL HOULLIERESQUE WONT HAPPEN AGAIN PROMISE

No Woolyback that would be breaking down the word supporter as if the KOP were'nt undermimed enough this man actually deemed it essential that we had his interpretation of the word support - er , the mans arrogance  no bounds we applaud effort and invention and the ocassional win would help ,what right had Houllier to try and dictate to the greatest most vibrant fans ,whose supporters are legendary ,WHAT RIGHT ? THAT IN MY OPINION WAS THE OBLIGATORY STRAW THAT BROKE THE CAMELS BACK

Getting down to basics Houllier has two faults; lack of ability and the pig-headedness to not admit it even to himself

His egotism means no-one who questions him survives, he cannot understand that to admit when you're wrong is a sign of strength not weakness and worse than anything he must genuinely hold contempt for the supporters by continually fobbing us off with tired, weak excuses that just don't wash any more.

He rescued this club from the mire when he took sole charge but sadly cannot take us any further. For the last 2 seasons we have been moving backwards and the man must stand up and do the right thing and resign. He should bow out with some dignity intact

I dont hate Houllier ,but i dont consider him to be a competent manager and that should be enough ,no malice but i just wish he would wake up and smell the roses, he's mortally wounded this once great club of ours ,and the wounds are starting to fester into something resembling a bad smell ,if he's not removed and soon ,then he will be remembered for the man who killed Liverpool, leave us with our memories swallow your gargantuan pride and quell your ravenous ego leave mr Houllier and let us graduate to a higher plateau ,i implore you. The realisation that you are not the man must be hard to accept, but better managers than you have gone with grace, and moved aside for the continued evolution of our club

How much money would the board have to pay Houllier to go? Leeds spent a fortune on O'Leary, Venables and Reid to go. Maybe the board feel that instead of paying him £5m to go, they'll let him see out his contract (I think it has one year left).

Personally I think it'd be money well spent but nobody likes paying £5m and having nothing to show for it(ironically Houllier is the only exception)

I'm waiting for him to try Heskey alongside Hyypia at the back.

For all his many faults, by far GH's worst is his apparent inability to take the blame on his own two shoulders. Too often he's put it onto the players that he's sent out, but not once has he ever held his hands up and admitted that his tactics are at times completely backwards.

Ironically, the bravest thing a Liverpool manager has said in the last few years was when Phil Thompson owned up to having nothing left in his tactical armoury to put up against the opposition while GH was in hospital. That kind of honesty wins you a lot more friends than the constant fob-offs we've had to contend with this season.
