Benitez going broke my heart but even he says you have to move on in life and look forward.

Our manager, the man in charge of our club deserves our support and respect at a difficult time for him and us.

I hated the Benitez bashers but he had been here a few years and I could understand although not agree with the criticism.

ROY has just started and fully deserves our unconditional support to help him

No more Woy digs please.  We are LFC not Chelsea

'Clueless, idiot, fat spanish waiter, the c.unt, fat cun.t'

Just a few of the names I saw banded about by so called LFC memebers on here whilst Rafa was in charge. Not that I don't agree he should be respected but you are preaching to the choir. Im sure if results start to go tits up Woy will come back out.

Woy has caught on as well as the whole "no" thing did with rafa. Makes the people that use it look like foolish kids..........no?

"Clueless". I probably did see him called that very occasionally. Never did it myself, but no doubt somebody did.

"Idiot". Ditto, the previous manager was never an idiot and I said so many times. Bav probably called him an idiot more than most.

"Fat Spanish waiter". I saw this referred to many times on here when people talked about all the "abuse" that he previous manager took "on here" (they almost always described the said abuse as "sickening"). Other than from out and out wind up merchants though, I NEVER EVER SAW ANYBODY ON HERE CALL THE PREVIOUS MANAGER A FAT SPANISH WAITER.

"C...". or "Fat C...". Never ever saw that either.

This whole idea that the previous manager was subjected to endless abuse on this forum was an urban myth. It was used as a sweeping generalisation by factions on the forum in order to justify sweeping generalisations in an attempt to discredit anybody who didn't agree with the manager on football matters. If you didn't agree with changing the team 75 times in the first 15 matches of the season, not only were you yourself a clueless c..., but you and your kind were "subjecting the manager to sickening abuse".

All this "the way he was treated" is nonsense. It may apply to the way the media treated him, and some of the press (treatment which it is hard to ignore was almost brought upon himself by his at times silly interviews), but fans on this forum didn't "abuse" the previous manager. I never "abused" him once, and yet was accused of it hundreds of times.

I'm also sad that Taff says he "hated the Benitez bashers". The intention of most people was to debate the football, many people didn't agree with the methodology and were subjected to much abuse for daring to put their heads above the parapet. To say you "hated" them though? Wrong word surely?

On the question of the "Woy" thing, the irony is of course that is the very people who ran around accusing everyone of "abusing" the previous manager who are now showing disrespect towards the current one. I'll show Roy the same respect as I showed his predecessor. I gave him four seasons before I came to the conclusion he wasn't taking the club forward. That didn't mean I felt unable to say I didn't agree with mass roation from game one, a policy which was shown up to be the nonsense it was. It did mean though, that I genuinely felt he was the right man for the job.

I think Roy is too, and it will take me at least three seasons before I can even hazard a guess at whether he is doing a good job overall. I don't disrespect managers though, others can suit themselves of course, but it's never been my thing.

a lot of people here used to paraphrase rafa's use and pronunciation of the word "kwality" and it was generally accepted as being endearing. i think that the majority who use "woy" do it in pretty much the same sense.

That could be so Andy. Personally it doesn't bother me either way. Roy doesn't read this forum I shouldn't think, and if people don't believe in him or want to say his name differently, I don't think it really matters.

I certainly won't be telling anyone to "feck off and support somebody else", or telling them they are a "fecking disgrace", or accuse them of hoping against hope that the team they support will lose so that they can be "proven right". Neither, if somebody says they disagree with a team selection will I ask them where they live, or what they do for a living, or tell them that as they don't manage a professional team themselves their opinion is by definition a load of sh!t.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion on a football forum, they always were. I'm confident that even those who have the gravest of reservations about our new manager, those who insist on typing his name wrong and disrespecting him before he's had a game in charge will actually get behind him and the team in the ground and in public. They won't be secretly hoping Roy doesn't succeed and the team loses so they can say " we    told   you    so" . I know some of them have said that already, but I'm sure they are just getting it out of their system.

Good post Taff. It's a bad sad that posters are still referring to Hodgson as 'Woy' but they will do as they please I guess. Am sure it will get dropped if we make a good start to the season and vise versa if we don't.

Bav, that's a bit dramatic isn't it? Sure there were plenty of whoppers calling Rafa names in the aftermath of some poor results last season but they were a small minority I think. the hardcore membership of this forum remained pretty respectful. And i'm not so sure the word 'clueless' is particularly insulting to any manager? Surely that's just a matter of opinion? I know I lost my rag enough times last season and thought, spoke, uttered, screamed that word at the tv many a time!

If your passionate about football you lose your rag on regular basis and say/type things that in the cold light of day are not really acceptable but thats just how it plays out. We have all done it and will do it again and to be honest its not really too much of a problem because I dont know any of these fellas from adam and as they wont read it they wont take offence anyways  :;):

Good shout lad
I think if anyone is still using the speech impediment as a form of abuse while he is now manager of Liverpool Football Club need to seriously look at themselves
I myself poked fun but it was when he had no affiliation with the Club I simply wouldn't dream of doing so now that he is the manager of our club
