You can't operate a forum effectively if anything and everything goes. You have to have limits. It's why even under previous moderators members were suspended and banned; in a manner of speaking these members were asked to "conform", and if they didn't their posting rights were temporarily or permanently removed. The only question then is where the line is drawn.

The best place to draw a line is through this thread, if it is ok to call ANYONE names then there are no lines/boundaries. I expect those who do wish penalties for calling Woy "Woy" are people who don't think twice about abusing other forum members, and indeed high profile 'hate figures', the irony being those who are kicking up such a stink about such a piddling issue probably would have been banned several times already if the mods applied the letter of the law.

If you read it carefully you'll see that I didn't say where the line should be drawn, merely that it is sensible that there be limits. FWIW, that certainly wouldn't include anything as mild as "Woy". The bottom line is though that no-one's personal freedoms have been restricted here anyway. You're as free as you like to utter "Woy" as often as you like. Accordingly, in objecting to this, others have exercised their right to reply -- just as much a right as is your right to say "Woy" - if that's what turns you on    No interference here.

Moreover, those who have alleged interference from the "thought police" are thelselves guilty of precisely that. To characterise someone who "refuses to see the blindingly obvious" as "IMHO, clueless" is no different to having one's credentials as a "real fan" questioned. Both push for conformity.
