For instance Reina and his "penalty stopping legend". It's an example of these inspirational moments. They're random, Reina is not currently under a inspirational spell, but that doesn't worry me in a keeper. His regularity is what matters.

Reina is a fantastic keeper in many many ways but he is not a natural shot stopper in my opinion. Having said that reina is a long long way from being our weakest link, that in my opinion is Rafa and his ridiculous zonal marking at set pieces which clearly doesn't work, how much more proof does the fool need. We have now conceded more goals from set pieces than Pompey ffs!!

Corner kick + Shkrtel = conceding a goal. Shkrtel is an OK defender. He could block and tackle but the crosses are his problems as I can see.But in order to make a good defense we need a Vidic or a Puyol type of defender, which is imposible at the moment.Kyrgiakos is an OK defender too.As long as he sits on the bench we'll be fine.Charager is getting a bit old and Agger is getting injured too often. But at the end I actully dont see why do we suck that much in defense. The players may do alot of mistakes but they cant suck this much in defense. They're not really that bad but the defence is still critical.

It's only really set pieces that we suck at and this is because of zonal marking and the fact that our players clearly aren't comfortable with it combined with having  manager who is too stubborn to change his mind.

Its pelligrino (sp ?) i tell you....He is the person who is responsible. Ever since he joined as the defensive coach...we have been having so many problems.

Even when he joined as in 2005....he was pretty aweful. Whenever he played our defence was all over the place.

Now as the defensive coach....he is screwing up our defence.

Yeah im guessing that it's the managers fault too.Mostly the central backs are the guys that we often see as the screw ups but what about the side backs?I mean Johnson, Aurelio and Insua are preaty awsome but they are good mostly in midfield and sometimes attack. But what about the deffense which is their real task in the game. The cetrlas backs are mostly the srew ups as I said but thats just becouse they are the last resort in the deffense.I've actully never seen (or havent payed enough attecion) Aurelio for example to do something good in defense.Insua is Ok but he does alot of mistakes that prove to be vital at the end but idk if someone has pointed him as the man who actully did the mistake. It's mostly Carragher's or Shkrtel's fault. It's actully the side backs fault becouse they didnt stop the attack before it got in the dangerous area, or didnt block the cross that Shkrtel mostly misses.

Garraghers older and Insua and Skrtl are very ordinary and these lads are protected by Lucas and Mascherano. You can turn it round in your head until the cows come home but we have pretty average footballers and a poor strategy set in stone by a manager that cannot see the wood for the trees these days. There is a solution but alas no one has the bottle to make the call or speak out so we suffer in relative silence and accept the garbage served up each week by this beleaguered outfit.

What is the solution? in the short term I think it's to ditch zonal at set pieces, that has to be a no-brainer. I would play Aquaman alongside Mascha and have Stevie behind the lone striker, oh please please please get well soon Nando! If Aquaman is not ready then play Stevie in CM and Benni behind the striker.

That might solve the midfield and attack problems but it wouldnt solve the defense problems. But I that that the real big problem in the team is the whole reserve squad. We have Fernando injured, we cant score a goal.We have that clown Lucas for a midfield and we cant organise the game. The wingers are Ok but we need another proper striker, like Kean was, I mean good enough for a great reserve.Lucas wont be a problem if we had a good striker when Torres is not here, but we still can do better than a player like Lucas. But with this squad now, with all the injuries and all, I would play Gerrard and Macherano as centrals, maybu Benayoun as a right winger since Rieara is also injured and Aurelio as a left winger and Kuyt behind the striker.Something simular as heimdall's squad :D.

Thats complete sh!te and I dont think you`ll find anyone who will agree with that. Anyone who has seen him play will know that that is probably his main strengh along with distribution.
How is it he became known as a pen stopper if he isnt a natual shot stopper?
How can you think he is a "fantastic" keeper if he isnt a quality shot stopper?
You say he is a fantastic keeper in many many ways, ok list these many many ways.
I wish you would read your posts through before you hit send.

We defend in much the same way as most other top teams you could name.
Why is it when we concede from a corner its the zonal part that gets the blame instead of the man to man?
We dont play a complete zonal system, infact we defend much the same way as we used to in Hansens days, man to man on the biggest threats and zonal elsewhere.
No one ever mentions that we lack height and players who are strong in the air, but then why would that have anything to do with it.

The solution is we need a new manager simple as that. You can see these lads are in desperate need of inspiration, a new challenge, its like the life has been drained from them lately. We can do better with what we have but just need a new angle and a fresh eye on things and thats no disrespect to Benitez who has given us some good times and had a real go at it. Whats happening on the field of late is just not good enough for this club and we have to move on now.

right...yeah, it doesn't matter that our first choice RB Glenn Johnson, our first choice striker Fernando Torres, our first chice LW Albert Reira are out injured or still recovering from injury and that within first 15 mins of the game our first choice CB Agger, and our back up LW Ryan Babel got themselves injured and had to be replaced with our back up CB the Greek and not fully fit Yossi Benayoun, now does it?

I just wish we put men on the posts, Adebayour would not of scored (imo) if we played with a man on the post.
