Personally I think it's good for the club. It certainly doesn't hurt Ferguson nor did it hurt Mourinho on the pitch.

It's very difficult for a Spaniard to speak English fluently, but to say that it's ''pretty bad'' it's quite an insult.

He's English is certainly a hell of a lot better than your Spanish I imagine.

I like the new no nonsence Rafa, takes me back to the days when Shanks was manager. Rafa is there to do a job for LFC .With Shanks it was all about loyalty and the red shirt and what was best for our club you never seen him bowing down to journo comments and he said and done exacly what he was thinking, so if Rafa felt Pako wasnt being loyal to our club or he didnt have good things to say about mourinio, id say carry on with being a bit intense its better for LFC

Good luck to him with that, I'm just glad he hasn't gone to one of our rivals.

Pako is hiding from the microphones this days.

Athletic de Bilbao made public their interest on Pako 15 days ago, He is of the province of San Sebastian and that would be like going to an archrival for a scouser. He did not even bother to answer or deny the offer in any local press or media.

Betis was linked to him aswell, but, again, Pako nor anybody around him appeared to answer at all.

And now Juande is about to leave Sevilla to White Hart Lane. Del Nido is a wee strange and peculiar chairman but is not dumb, I doubt he'd leave Juande without a plan. And Pako is a good plan. The refusal of Pako to accept not manager roles in other important primera teams, and this departure, leads me to suspect that we might have something here. Note that it's just my hunch, I only know Pako's personal ambitions were to manage a team himself, and that Sevilla is a very interesting club to deal with. If Sevilla are wise, they should look at Pako. Let's see what happens, pure speculation of mine.

But who is Pako and what he did here? I see good old Rafa Dodd saying he was the gaffer in his sig. This interview of August, had only 8 or 9 responses in the thread that a mate created. But IMHO, it explains a lot about who is Pako, what does he like, what he dislikes, How was a normal day  in Melwood, and the stuff he did. Oh and he speaks about rotation too.

Basically it seems he spent most of the time analysing data from the training sessions, massive amount of data apparently, and then plan the training sessions accordingly. He also seemed to focus the personal training of players in their weak points.

Worth a read, if you didn't because it was summer:

He wont be going anywhere until July next year at the earliest.

His severance pay package included gardening leave until June 2008.

Ah, for some reason I thought that restrictions would only applied just in case he wanted to join another premiership team.

Thanks for the correction, either I missed it or I didn't know that bit.

Valencia to snap up Ayestaran
by Ben Blackmore, 05 November 2007

Rafa Benitez’s right hand man Pako Ayestaran is on the verge of a return to Valencia as assistant boss to Ronald Koeman.

Liverpool recently released a statement confirming Ayestaran’s departure from the club, breaking a lengthy successful partnership with Benitez.

The duo lifted the Liga title, The Uefa Cup and The Champions League during their years at Valencia and Liverpool, while promotion with Tenerife also marks Ayestaran’s curriculum vitae.

Valencia confirmed they are working to bring the highly popular coach back to El Mestalla, and the Che are currently talking with Liverpool.

Valencia Sporting director Miguel Angel Ruiz confirmed talks with Ayestaran were in progress, while a club spokesman said: "We are ready to negotiate a compensation package with Liverpool."

Valencia fans recently chanted ‘Bring back Benitez’ at one of their home league matches, and the acquisition of Ayestaran is sure to smooth the settling-in period for new boss Koeman.
