If you had to buy british - Who would you go for?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

I know Rafa probably won't, but if you had to buy British who would you pick. I've split it up into 4 categories. Bear in mind you're only buying the one player, obviously the most expensive is at the top of your wish-list.
Money no Object, 10 million plus.
Decent wedge, over 5 less than 10.
value buy, over 2 less than 5.
                  Shoestring superstar, less than 2.

Here goes;    12 million-Ledley king.
                     6 million-Scott Parker.
                     4 million-William Gallas.
                     1.5 million-Damion Francis.
Obviously a wide man and/or a striker would be a priority also. I quite like Routledge at Palace, and I know you're gonna laugh out loud but I think that Earnshaw, now of West Brom will score goals in a half decent side. They would both be candidates in the bargain basement as like Francis, they also play for teams which will go down at the end of the season.

Oh and needless to say, Gallas isn't British but he kinda seems like it as he plays in the Premiership if you get my drift. :)

Pass the crack pipe.

Is your list upside down or what? Ledley King is £12m, but Gallas is £4m.......

Money no object, and you would buy Ledley King over say Rooney or Defoe ? ? ?

Earnshaw will score goals, YES in the second division mate, not away to Barca or Inter Milan.....

Nah Leon, I wouldn't but Ledley King over Rooney, but I suspect that even if money was no object we wouldn't be able to get him. A bit unrealistic there I think. Defoe is a possibility for sure, but I think you'd have to go up to around 17 or 18 million for him and I think that King would be better value at around 12. Gallas would go fairly cheap in my view. He's older than King and can't get a game in his favoured centre-half slot. Lets face it where chelsea are concerned, its pretty much impossible to tempt them with an offer thats too good to turn down. Given their financial situation any departures would have to driven either by the player wanting away or by them shipping a bloke out. I have a hunch that given the opportunity to play centre-back, gallas maybe interested. To answer the basic premise of your point, I would rather have King than Gallas. Just my opinion.
On the question of Earnshaw, I'm well aware that it's a bit of a flier. I'm basing the punt on his international performances. Sometimes you think you  see something in a player. Lets face it Leon, and PLEASE before I say this I'm not comparing the two, Rushie started off at Chester and I'm sure very few people predicted his career. I just get the notion that he will score goals wherever he plays. Something to do with his movement and all that. Anyways, you've got a chance to watch him in the Premiership and see if I'm talking b *ll*c*ks again. I'm sure you'll remind me if by christmas he can't buy a goal.  :D

Hey bigmick Gallas is so much better than king will ever be.
Smith to Shankly:My thigh is a bit sore, but I think I could play.
Shankly to Fagan:Tell him,Joe.He has got no chance of playing.
Smith to Fagan:Tell him to sod off.It is not his leg,it's mine.
Shankly to Smith:Oh no son.You are wrong, son. It is not your leg.
It is Liverpool Football Club's leg.

Fair point but at least he's still at Celsea, unlike Bentley who's "starring" at Delia Smith's lot

Downing is a briliant young lad, I say we should try to get him in January or get him on a loan.
