If we don't qualify for europe next season...

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Like many, I think a year without Europe would probably be good for us. But, I find myself sitting here hoping Chelsea score another and Spurs lose the game so that our chances of 5th are better. Maybe it is a Mickey Mouse cup, but 5th place and Europe sounds better than 6th place, and if our focus next year is on top 4 (which it should be), then I don't mind seeing the kids play on Thursday nights as a result.

It's looking more and more likely that we will catch Spurs. Dropped points today and then we smash then about at our place and it's looking pretty good

I won't celebrate Rafa going........ but I will be over the moon if Dalglish comes in. League within 2 years if he gets the job, AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT.

we're even on points, better goal difference but they have a game in hand. Even if they win game in hand, if we beat them, we would go level but better goal difference again

got to admit I'm concerned about the number of Thursday night games affecting our domestic campaign

Just means we will always play on Sunday's right?

Agreed but we need to also keep in the habit of midweek games for when we get back into the CL. As long as we strengthen the squad enough in the summer I reckon we will be ok.

Question - Our only chance to qualify for the Europa League is by finishing 5th?

Certainly looks that way, unless City finish 5th and win the cup, then we can finish 6th

If we make Europe I can see another campaign where they blood the youngsters and give fringe players a run out and see where we end up. Bring the top lads in at later stages if we need to. I think just for the fact Liverpools history is so steeped in European football its as if we simply have to be there but truth is it really is not a big cash insentive and it does make the league effort more difficult. They clearly are going all out for it so its important to the club and I think we will do it now no problem at all.
