I didnt say that, and I would agree with you that no matter how good he is at the moment there is no guarentee that he will continue to progress and thats not taking into account potential injuries etc. However for the period of time I have been a football fan, and this is hard to admit, I really dont think I have seen such a talent in someone so young. He is easily the most talented player under 21 in the world and if he continues like he is he will be as good and as important as Zidane. I was perhaps a bit OTT in my last post (using Westlife Lyrics and all) but I feel your perception of football isnt perhaps focused in the right areas. Ok you state that he scored a hat-trick against second rate opposition and maybe you and I could have scored 3 in the same game as they were poor but his tally wasnt the important thing. If you want to see how good a footballer is just look at his teammates. Man Utd have been THE team of the last decade (minus the last 5 years,LOL) and have had some of the worlds greatest players play for them but I have never seen players like Giggs, Keane etc make way for the presence of a teammate as they did for Rooney. They KNOW how good he is, yet these players are seasoned proffesionals who have won everything whilst Rooney is just a whippersnapper. Honestly, the respect these players are showing him says it all for me, on his debut it was like they just stood aside and let him do his thing.
The man who came to merseyside from Newcastle, the man who says he's part of Liverpool as much as the Liver building. When he was needed Alan Kennedy was there. And with now just 8 minutes to go it could be that Alan Kennedy has made a little history.
