I am very worried by the rise of serious negativism at this forum during this summer, that is directed at the club - read Rafa and Parry.

It seems that people do have very short memory.

The major "problems" were:
1. Do sign big players - read splash vast amounts of cash to prove ambition
2. Get Owen
3. Failure to do the above mentioned things mean that we are not going in the rright direction and LFC is slumping into mediocrity..

I cannot believe what I read, seriously.

If you would kindly remember, at the end of the Houllier era, the club had incured a net loss of more that 60M pound from transfers. Additionally, you might remember the "golden handshake" with the Monsieur and his staff, which costed the club a further 10M

The people on this forum seem to forget very kickly the sh*thole that we were in 15 months ago. And do not stop critisizing the man that pulled us out from there.

yes true but that is what phil said, Owen needed to play first team football and did not want to spend most of the time on the bench so he whent to a team that gave him a starting place, that is all it comes down to.

I don't think you can call Rafa's failure to get Michael Owen his first major mistake. It's only with hindsight we can tell if it'll be a mistake. I'll give Rafa the benefit of the doubt on this because he deserves the benefit of the doubt on it.

Fair comment Sim , but it doesn't take much foresight to suggest that Owen will score more goals this season than ,Crouch ,Morientes and probably Cisse .
Certainly rafa has said all along that his priorities are RM and CD but with less than 36 hours to go where are they ?

I maintain that although not his first priority the failure to snap up Owen is in my eye's a mistake , if you can't reinforce your defence why not reinforce you attack ? How often does a club get a striker of Owens calibre basically begging to join them ? .

I'm not calling for Rafa's head , but IMO he's got it wrong on this one . We'll have to wait a while but I'm sure come December you'll be agreeing with me .

I'm with you again here Woof. I think that the advantages of him joining are obvious, but I am curious to see how the team does now.....so far I haven't had any reason to doubt Rafa.

I secretly admire the man for sticking to his guns under all the pressure too.

But then that's MO decision, not Rafa's! The offer was there, MO must think he's not good enough to get a regular 1st team place, Rafa's being just being honest like he is with all signings we have made.

forgot to mention that I have another part of me that is enjoying watching Owen have to settle for what he is settling for after the way he treated us last year as well.

I heard a lot that there was a rift between Rafa and Cisse. Was it for real? In the SC match, Cisse looked pretty angry. But today there are reports that Rafa and Cisse had an understanding.

the rift did seem real, at the end of the games Cisse seemed to be upset in his interview on tv.
the only time i have seen pull together was in the seconed half of the cl final.
