Last five seasons the mans teams have been in four finals and won three of them.

World club championship/ League cup final/ Champs League final .... there's 3 he didn't win ?

Major finals

UEFA Cup - Valencia (won)
Champions LEague - Liverpool (won)
FA Cup - Liverpool (won)
Champions LEague - Liverpool (lost)

You will notice I did not include the Super Cup thingy eaither mate.

hang about where's the league cup defeat to chelsea...or is the league cup no longer considered major?

And all this proves is what we all know. Benitez good cup manager...shit league manager in england.

Well im sure if we had won league cup, it wouldnt have been considered a major trophy by those wanting Rafa gone.

Hey for some people a couple of short months ago the Champions league was bit of mickey mouse cup as well

Prepare for some GBJHisms.

:sleep

but in answer to somebody in this case laza who wants to discuss footy rather than start petty arguements.

Had we won the league cup, I wouldn't of classed it as a little trophy and I don't really want Benitez as our manager. The league cup probably doesn't hold as much prestige amongst fans as say the FA Cup, but it's still a major trophy.

Since our last win of the league cup in 2003, there's only been one final where none of the top four have made it.

2007-08 Chelsea got to the final
2006-07 Chelsea and Arsenal got to the final
2005-06 Man United got to the final
2004-05 Liverpool and Chelsea got to the final
2003-04 None of the top four
2002-03 Liverpool and Man United got to the final.

So top sides are still taking it seriously, and it should be considered as a major trophy. We're the most successful side in this competition, 7 wins, so throughout the competitions history, we've taken it seriously (especially early 80s) It is a major trophy.
1) You'll Never Walk Alone
2) pass and move is the Liverpool groove
3) FIRST WILL ALWAYS BE FIRST AND SECOND WILL ALWAYS BE NOTHING.
4) If Torres has scored 60 league goals for Liverpool by the start of the 2011/12 season, I'll say he's better than Owen.

I don't know about "Mickey mouse", but all four English clubs getting to the quarters, three out of four getting to the semi's and all English finals is something we will have to get used to over the next couple of years I think. What is it now for Chelsea, semi finalists four times in five seasons? Three semi finals in four seasons for us?

I don't for one minute think that makes the competition "Mickey Mouse', but I do think that judging the success or failure of a manager based on whether he gets the team to the quarters or the semi's of the competition will become the same as a job for life effectively.

you've forgot to mention that the top sides reached the final by playing mostly a 2nd team until the semi-finals or so.... what a major trophy... a testing ground for youngsters and practice matches for the 2nd team more like it...
