How do you feel about - No british players

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby lakes10 » Mon Jan 03, 2005 12:55 pm

I am just wondering how members of this forum feel if we end up with no British players.
I might be the way we are heading.
Is it a necessary evil due to lack of money in the club?
Or do you think we should sit back this year and just play with the young players like Stephen Warnock, Neil Mellor, JOHN WELSH, DARREN POTTER and give them a starting place for the rest of the year till we have money (take over bid ) .
For me I can not see a way that we can not buy cheap overseas players.

Well, i don't think it will happen here. Liverpool is still run as a family business. Have to follow a lot of traditions.

We won't become another bolton or chelsea....

I'm not british so the fact that he looks elsewhere gives me a better chance.  Now i better run off and apply for citizenship in Spain because if Diao can make the first team maybe I have a shot.

*I understand he had a decent game today, but it still had to be said :D

Dont agree that Diao had a decent game.  He gave the ball away too much.  If we are going to be playing him and Nunez while our top players are injured we wont make the top four and we'll be quickly beaten out of Europe.  Also, despite his goals today and against WBA, Garcia has been disappointing.

At least with Garcia he has scored goals (Thats 5 now I think) and he does get himself into decent goalscoring positions (Just needs to work on his shooting for when he gets there  :p )

But with Nunez - he hasnt shown anything at all to show any kind of potential. However he did miss all of preseason which is very important for building up fitness and has missed the 1st couple of months of the season so im prepared to give him till the end of the season. I do fear that he wont show anything more than he does however

Jus a pointer for anyone not wantin a team without english players - back in the mid-80's when we ran away with any trophy football could make, we had far fewer english than we do now!! Ok, we had more brits, but thats a different matter. I dont care if we end up with the UN playin week in week out, I wanna see the Premiership trophy at Anfield.
To tell the truth I think Moores wouldnt be too p1$$ed if it was a team of Spaniards, it'd be cheaper than a team of Brits!! Jus leave us the english players we have now + whatever, and win the league nex season.
Stu Averill, a wannabe Scouse/Scot. I remember the good times & have faith in them comin back

Beside the Hillsborough Flame, I heard a Koppite mournin, "Why so many taken on that day?" Justice has never been done. But their memory we'll carry on. There'll be Glory Round The Fields Of Anfield Road
