Houllier lingers in the memory - Shades of shankly.................

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Leonmc0708 » Wed Nov 17, 2004 11:32 pm

I have heard from a very good friend of the family who works closesly with the first team squad that Gerard Houllier is still turning up periodically at our training head quarters at Melwood.

This for me is tinged with sadness. I remember my dad telling me about how this happened with Shankly all those years ago. And how it ended up being a little messy, with a legend left bitter due to the inevitible hurt caused.

My old man said that Liverpool Football Club just gets a grip of you, vice like, and it never lets you go. This has proved the case with me as I am sure many of you reading this will also profess.

Not from my source, but from various websites and fanzines I believe it is now starting to ****** our new manager Rafa off a fair bit.

Apparently Houllier was in there recently, using the excuse of getting a foot massage or something, as the reason for attending the complex this time. I understand he then went over to sit where all the coaching staff usually sit. Maybe out of habit more than anything untoward?

I also understand he is also ringing the players a fair old bit as well, though not for all the wrong reasons. I have been told that GH was constantly in contact with Stevie Gerrard over the summer months. And whilst the decision was being made on his particular future, and all the noise coming from GH was about staying with the reds who showed him much faith as a youngster and winning the league with their mutually beloved reds. However I have heard also that one of the players has gone as far as changing his mobile number in an attempt to rebuff GH's calls.

I would like to think Senor Benitez has been nice, and as he is only just in the job did not want to rock the boat too much. But i cant see it being long until he has a quiet word with Messrs Moores and Parry.

Dont get me wrong, this is definetly not a go at GH, but I really think it is time, for the good of Benitez, GH and Liverpool FC that this is nipped in the bud.

I understand it, if I was working for my beloved reds, like Shankly and Houllier, and I was releived of my position, then I would be lost, and would crave the atmosphere and camoradery of the training ground etc.....

If Houller really wants to act in the benefit of the club and not his own personal reasons, if he loves the club as much as he says he does he will stop this nonsense.

I have much repsect for him, but he has to realise it's Rafa's team now and he is no longer involved.

Is Houllier still living in England or has he moved back to France?

Seems like he is around Liverpool but I would have expected him to move to France as well.

If he loved the club so much he would give back the 10 mil so we can buy another striker

No hes still in Liverpool often seen jogging in sefton park ??? .
Its quiet sad if this is the truth like, but he has to move on I feel we have bad luck when hes watching us at different grounds.
Wish someone would offer him a job maybe then he wont be hovering around us anymore.
Its pretty sad really.
There is no-one anywhere in the world at any stage who is any bigger or any better than this football club.
