Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Postby Ciggy » Fri Jul 16, 2004 11:00 am

According to reports in Spain, Liverpool striker Milan Baros has, in principle, agreed a four-year contract with Barcelona.
Meetings between the player’s representatives, and directors of Barca took place this week, and although everything is not yet defined, a deal looks close.

Now the Catalans must agree a fee with Liverpool.

The representatives of the player indicated that the price would be between ten and twelve million euros, which Barca would find acceptable.

With the signing of Samuel Eto’o looking difficult, and with Mista more than likely to stay at Valencia, the most feasible striking option looks to be Baros  :suspect:

I doubt that is true, Liverpool have to give permission to Barca before they can discuss with the players 'people'.

Wait until Baros gets back for pre-season training next Monday and speaks to Beni, then we'll get the full story :)

Whoa there 12 million Euros is only about 8 Million Pounds. Even if this is true Im sure Rafa would already have a replacement lined up or maybe we could take a part exchange on one of their players. Ronaldhinio anyone!!!

Nah we want Zidane to stay and to take his French buddy Patrick with him, that would be even better than signing Zidane due to the snowball effect on the Arsenal team. One less team you gotta wory about.

English club in for Saviola
Wednesday, 14 July 2004

Players:

Javier Saviola
Teams:

Barcelona

by Mark Kendall
Barcelona striker Javier Saviola is reported to have been the subject of an offer from an unnamed Premiership club.
Spanish daily Mundo Deportivo claims the Catalan giants have been approached by an English and a French side, both of whom are willing to match the player's current wage packet.

The Argentine hit-man, known as 'The Rabbit', is on Copa America duty with his national side - and netted a hat-trick in the 6-1 win over Ecuador.

Saviola is very highly-regarded at Barca, and a fans' favourite, and enjoyed another impressive campaign last season where he netted a total of 17 goals.

Yeah, he would be a cool signing. He is young and could do with a fresh start, Beni would know him well although signing him and losing Baros I think would involve bringing someone else in up front I reckon. He could play behind the main striker or in midfield similar to Aimar, where do you get such info from?
