We don't have the players to match there games thats why.

You say we are on paper as good as these top sides. You think? We only spent £116m in comparison to how much Chelsea and United spend. Who is responsible for building the side "in your opinion" is this strong on paper then, you think these players just fell into our club? Considering the amount these two clubs spent they should be miles ahead with no-one else ever being able to compete.

We aren't in decline. We stagnated, the team peaked and now we need a new approach which is what is happening.

This season is a freak, our injury crisis for the first half of the season, Arsenal being unbeaten after 30 league games, Chelsea gettin a new owner and spending obscene amounts of money, Newcastles serious lack of form and Ferdinands ban which effectively knocked United out of the title race.

Next season will be a hell of a different story.

if you look at our first choice 11, just by reputation and not current form it is very good not perfect but very good. our manager just cant get anything out the players. at celtic martin O'Neil has some terrible players to work with that would never get into liverpools team, yet he gets the best out of them, houlliers just gets the worst of talented players. are you trying to say that 116m is not a lot of money? arsenal havnt spent as much as us and look where they are! saying we havnt spent as much as man u and chelsea is a bad excuse. and as injurys go, every year we have injurys, thats why you have a squad, the injurys we had this year show how bad our squad is. in recent seasons we havnt had gerrard for long periods but this season hes played every game and hes our best player. the season were lucky to be even challenging for fourth position. the only reason were up there is bacause apart from the top three the rest of the league is terrible, were closer to relegation than the championship for crying out loud.

Yes i agree it is very good. Houllier assembled it. He has assembled a very good squad. Not the best YET but a very good squad. Don't sit there and say he can't get anything out of our players. He made Murphy into a good hard working midfielder who on his day is a very good and useful player. He's made Steven Gerrard the player he is today. He signed Hyypia for £3m from the dutch league and turned him into one of the worlds best centre halfs.

I am saying £116m on 40 players over 5 years is nothing to what United and Chelsea have spent. Look it up, its not an excuse its fact. They have spent far more on less players. Its not rocket science. The best players usually cost the most and we can't afford £10m a throw.

Arsenal are an exceptional case as is Wenger. He's done a marvelous job and i can say nothing except respect. He is one of the best managers of his generation.

The injury's this year don't show how bad the squad is. It shows how stupid you are for not being able to realise squad players will never ever be upto a first team standard. Squad players are good to come in in 2's and 3's thats why they are there but no team in the country can go a number of games missing 6.... yes thats right SIX first team players and expect maximum results. Up until February we weren't able to field our best 11.

Its not an excuse, its a fact, if you ignore this then you are more blind and stupid than you come across. This season, any team who had the injurys we had with maybe the exception of Chelsea would seriously suffer. Look at United, they were neck and neck with Arsenal till they lost Ferdinand... now look where they are.

Look, i've said it before its been a freak of a season in many respects. This isn't gonna happen again, next season will be so much tighter i will put my house on it.

Stu, it's been statistically proven that if you give an infinite number of monkeys an infinite amount of time and an infinite number of typewriters then, sooner or later, one of them will write out the complete works of Shakespeare word-for-word.

I know you're an advocate of GH staying on but how long would you personally give him before bringing in a new man?

I just said that I agreed with Stu that players (in general) shouldn't criticise their managers in public.

:D

I think the only time I can remember of any Liverpool player criticising the Houllier regime was when Baros criticised Phil Thompson when Houllier was out ill.

It goes 2 ways. GH criticised Henchoz in public too for not respecting the player replacing Henchoz. In fact GH critisism of Henchoz is more harsh.

Anyway i am laying off  frombashing GH for now (until the arsenal game). The team finally came out with the right attitude.  It does not matter what formation you play. If you play with the right attitude and have the right players, you win. Hope this continues for the rest of the games.

Having said that, not sure how biscan will measure up to henry though. GH has to bring back henchoz for the arsenal game.
