Quite a few but in recent times Finnian and also Jamie Carrargher when he took over central defenders duties.
Like Scottbot I really thought Ince would be the piece of steel that finally took us back to the top of the heap

Good question

And if I'm totally and utterly honest I got it wrong on Cisse, now I never watched him play at Auxerre. I reckon I would of spotted it for myself that he wasnt the bees knees. But I got caught up in the hearsay when Houllier was comparing him to Henry and saying he's even quicker, then refering to his goals scored in France, in his last season he bagged a few. And of course the price tag of 14M I thought to myself  'this geezer's gonna tear the prem apart' lightning quick good goalscorer the lot.
So before he actually came to Anfield I was telling all my mates to wait and watch for a man called Djibril Cisse, I was harping on about him for months. All on hearsay  :no  Luckily enough for me I moved to Australia when Cisse recovered from his broken leg, so in a sense I've escaped any possible abuse thats no doubt gonna be given to me by me mates. :)

I've said often enough that I think Sissy should be sold off, but I reckon he'll be @ LFC until January at least...and who knows....maybe he will get slapped around the head a bit and realise that for £14M, he SHOULD be paying back the investment LFC made in him. I have a sneaking suspicion that he'll be a different player next season.....Then again, maybe this post will come back to haunt me and I'll be completely wrong about him :;):

Definitely been wrong about a few.  I thought Morientes would be class for us after the season he had with Monaco and his record at Madrid.

Smicer is one who really disapointed me.  I saw him rip Arsenal to shreds in a CL game for Lens and thought he'd be a good replacement for McManaman, but the guy had no consistency.  I also thought that Baros had really come out of his shell when he won the Golden Boot at the last Euro Chamionship and would go on to be an adequate replacement for Owen, but he also turned out to be a let down.

Nigel Clough and Dean Saunders are another 2 who looked really good in the English league for Forest and Derby but never really did it for us.

Saunders, Clough, Babb, all great buys, Le tallec & Pongolle would be world class, Harry Kewell would be fantastic and Carragher was steady but not really Liverpool class.

I thought Morientes would make it and hell up until last week I was still backing him, so yes I am finally admitting I was wrong for the past year and half. :(

I also strangely enough thought that Cheyrou would do well and Frode Kippe (if anyone remembers him) :D

You may not have been wrong about Frode Kippe just very far sighted. I read somewhere that he is back in Norway and is starting to look like he could become a world star.

I got Hamman wrong :(

I thought he was a bit dull in attack and one of the reasons for Liverpool not being what used to be in the eighties. But in the last couple of years, when I've started to watch all games instead of some games and highlights thanks to the internet, I've seen that I was wrong.

He's defensively super solid, and a great midfielder.

At the time I actually thought we'd overspent on Hamann, but he's been worth every penny.

Never understood why he had been so highly rated at Newcastle, but you're right Sabre, you have to watch the guy every week to appreciate how good he is.  During the Houllier era when Hamann was at his peak, I think we missed him more than any other player when he was out injured.
