Yeah his body language says it all really and I think it's hit home to him that he has mediocre at best players around him this season. Aquilani should start more games and help him out.
But with rafa wanting boring bland footie just can't see it happening somehow?

This whole season has been a disgrace and it's not Gerrards fault.

Love that Sig Emerald, you come up trumps yet again with that.lol

Some :censored: knicked the original template from RAWK and the design is doing the rounds on a few t-shirts in places, so I'm told. C*nts.

Anyway, to say Gerrard is finished is a nonesense. His goal against Blackburn showed that he still has the spark of pace when he wants to turn it on. The excuse of him playing and not being fit has worn off. I've been critical of him for a while on here now and been critsised for it by some, but I didn't give a bollox. Only telling it as I seen it. I don't give a toss if you're a Scouser and playing for Liverpool, but the way both Carragher and Gerrard have been acting like two brats lately is a joke, and if they want out, then just go! I'm at the point now where I don't give a flying f*ck who leaves, and that goes for the rest. Start playing for that b@stard jersey or f*ck off, plain and simple. Oh, and that also goes for certain sections of our support as well BTW! We've let ourselves down massively this season, all parties. No way will we forget what's happened this season. Something will have to give and I don't give a sh*t who or what. We're a f*cking shambles and a joke now. I don't even recognise the club we used to be anymore.

Gerrard isnt trying though currently, picking up his 100k a week and not really playing like he cares........

i dont think being pissssed off that he has to play with lucas and kuyt is an excuse for currently not trying and passing like carlton palmer

if he left, surely it wouldnt be to another English side to play against us. I also don't think he'd leave the country this late in his career. It makes no sense for him to leave now IMO so he's gonna stay. sh!te or not

hes finished at Liverpool, not as a player, hes an awesome player, just not for us

(I hope he scores 5 for us at weekend to shut me up, but he wont)

5 assists would be enough for me.
I think the manager needs to drop him to the bench when he's not performing or bitching or whatever not. This would set a good example to warn other players. But then Rafa is never good in the human element of the game.

Being surrounded by dross drags you down.. thats fact.

Both Gerrard and Torres are hugely disillusioned and frustrated.. as the ilk of lucas, kuyt ruin moves, collapse plays, contribute nothing and provide sweet f$$k all service... this builds frustration in quality players who have to play with them.

I feel nothing but sympathy for Gerrard/Torres... they cannot perform with such a handicap.

You talk dross more like. He was surrounded by pure sh*te through Houllier's reign, and more or less the same players the past 3 seasons and played amazing, so you're making no valid point whatsoever here.

Gerrard this year has been terrible for england too, so that argument doesnt wash about playing with dross bringing you down

Compare carragher with gerrard (basically the heart beat of liverpool for the last 10 years, the last 2 things that really make us what we are, proper scousers) forget the foreigners who come and go.........

both are playing with dross currently but one tries 100% every game without question and without ego (all he wants is a new contract and to keep playing for lfc)

and the other in my opinion doesnt give 100% every game and his ego has now got to big

Null and void point. Gerrard has never been good for England... as hes not afforded the free reign to bomb on as and when he feels.

Pick out any year over the last 10.

*ahem*.. i repeat. Gerrard stated in late November he was "devastated" Alonso was no longer at the club...and blamed losing him for our nosedive. Gerrard ain't stupid, he knows he aint getting the service of old, and that the downgrade to lucas (a poor mans Danny Murphy) has been catastrophic for the team.

From Redknapp to Hamann to McAllister to Alonso... there has always been that quality/composed top passer in midfield, who feeds Gerrard who then bombs on. This year there is no one, hes been starved of service and he has suffered for it bigtime.

This season hes playing infront of the worst, least creative Liverpool central midfield since the dark days of Souness as manager

Gerrard: I was devastated by Alonso departure

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has revealed he was devastated by Xabi Alonso's departure to Real Madrid this summer.

The 27-year-old Spaniard was reportedly close to leaving Anfield 12 month's ago with Aston Villa skipper Gareth Barry expected to join the Merseysiders.

However, neither move materialised, with Alonso going on to have one of his best seasons in a Liverpool shirt, anchoring Rafael Benitez's outfit to within a whisker of pipping Manchester United to the Premier League title.

The former Real Sociedad midfielder - who has won 64 caps for Spain - did finally leave Liverpool this year, joining Karim Benzema, Kaka and Cristiano Ronaldo as part of Real's £200 million summer spending spree.

And Gerrard has confessed that seeing his midfield partner depart for pastures new was difficult to take.

"Devastated, yeah. Devastated. But there was nothing I could do about it," he said in the December issue of FourFourTwo magazine, out today.

"Xabi said a long time ago that he wanted another chapter in his career and finally he got it and his team-mates and the coaches couldn't stand in his way. We just have to say thanks and move forward without him."

Alonso's exit has coincided with the Reds' disastrous start to the 2009/10 campaign, with five league defeats already three more than they suffered in the whole of last season, while losses to Fiorentina and Lyon in the Champions League group phase have left their hopes of European glory in serious doubt.

The Spaniard's absence - combined with injuries to both Gerrard and striker Fernando Torres - has been highlighted as one of the key reasons behind the club's dismal early season form.

And Gerrard says it is only now - with Alonso gone - that some people are beginning to realise just how influential a player he was.

"It's always going to be different when you lose one of the best players in the world - and people are finally realising that's what he is, on the back of his form for Real Madrid and the difference in us from last year," he said.

"We've got other midfielders here doing a good job but it will take a while before Alonso's out of our system because he was such a top player.

"Defensively, because of his intelligence at picking up his positions, he was so good at protecting the central defenders.

"And going forward, he was one of the best passers of the ball I've ever seen; someone who could create something out of nothing.

"He was sometimes underrated when he was here because of Torres, but when you play with him and without him you realise how much he meant to you, both as a player and the team as a whole."

Think i value Gerrard's comments a tad more than any "expert" on a fans forum.

You can say bad season but i saw it starting last season.......his goals luckily papered over the cracks....

his stamina isnt what it used to be and he has lost a little pace, thus losing his edge

you can see it for england too, his face is now of a man who knows he cant do what he used to do and this confidence is affecting his passing, shooting etc

He needs to be shifted into centre midfield now and change his game slightly

We'll see a great Liverpool again in the next seasons, with or without Alonso, and with or without Rafa.

And Gerrard will be the captain of that team, and the best player of England. As always.

To try to explain what's my point I'll put an example of my local club.

Xabi Alonso came from the youth ranks, saved the team singlehandedly. The next season he brought a Spanish mid team to a title challenge against Real Madrid.

And the next season his former team played the champions league, without a deeper squad, and in fact, with a weakened squad. The team struggled in the league and was close to be relegated.

Some Real Sociedad fans thought Alonso was a false dawn.

----

I think that in this case you could say that Gerrard's game is not at his best.

But finnished? never. Gerrard is affected by the context of the team as anyone else, Gerrard is affected by the anxiety like anyone else, but finnished? a major loss of his football abilities? never.

We'll see Gerrard triumphing again, when we sort out our football problems.

please read my opening post

i said he is finished in terms of one of the worlds great players (and you will continue to see this over the coming months/year)

its understandable, players like him who rely on stamina and a acceleration dont keep "it" over the age of 28/29 ish at that level

gerrard has never had great flair or amazing creativity so the more he becomes less mobile than the rest of the premiership the worse he gets.

ok another one of my half baked news room reports.

Rafa and Gerrard in bust up after game.
Rafa gave the team a talking to after the game, it is said at this point gerrard stood up to Rafa and said that the team lacked guidance from the manager and the team felt lost during the game.

Sammy Lee took Gerrard away from the manager in fear that he was about to over step the mark.

make of it of what you will.
