Has traore been value for money?

Liverpool Football Club - General Discussion

Looking at the posts so far, does it mean Houllier's words have come true when he said..
"One day Liverpool will be thankful for Djimi Traore".

If I was a manger in the Prem I would not sign Djimi.
I think he's a better CB than left back tho.

The Cruyff turn own goal was worth the whole £500K itslef.

The 500k was all about buying potential, for me he never realised it,
some good games, but a lot more bad ones, its always been a mystery to me how he ever lasted so long,

My heart (and those around me) would sink, even if he came on for the last 5/10 mins, you just knew he would fk up and gift them a chance or 2 or 3 or 4.

good luck to the lad, but Im well pleased hes on his bike.

"Charlton have signed Liverpool full-back Djimi Traore £600,000 today.

A move for Traore, 26, was always on the cards this summer as Reds manager Rafael Benitez continues bringing defensive reinforcements to the club."

That seems a low price to me especially considering Everton wanted to buy him for 2.5 mill what seems like only yesterday.

He tried hard and for that I will respect him. Good luck!

I think it was about 2 seasons back where I honestly believed him to be one of our most improved players.  Sadly is wasn't a lasting thing and he went back to being affectionately referred to as 'Bambi' :D

His 2005 CL semi performance alone was worth more than half a mill - he didn't carry that into the final, but he was one of the main reasons we got through that fixture. For all the abuse they got, I genuinely don't think we'd have got to the final without Traore's and Biscan's contributions along the way.

I won't be sorry to see him leave, but I don't doubt that his heart was always with the club throughout his time here, and I definitely wish him all the best. :)

For the money yes but he is quite a crappy player. What I like about him is that he has never complained to the media about his situation and he always seems to give his best.

he is very like david james imo

all the attributes to be a great player but never rasied his game consistantly enough to be at lfc, i still think he is worth more than 600k when you see cutis davis being touted at 12 mill

he will do a good job at any of the middle level prem teams but he will make it on to the blupper video every year, good bye to a good servant of the club and good bye to another gh average player

Best wishes to Djimi. I am disapointed we only got £600k for him, cos he was worth more than that. Hopefully it will have helped him get a good contract from Charlton tho'.

Definately sad to see him go. :D

I think Conn'Ovar said it all that Djimi always gave his all when he put on that red shirt. And that was all we could ever ask for.

Aside from a little bit of defending know-how, that was what we all really wanted. A player who always gave his best.

7 years. That was a pretty long time. No doubt, worth the half a million alone in my opinion, for that famous goal-line clearance :D  and I really thought he was improved. Way better than the Traore of old, but alas, his future at Liverpool wasnt to be any longer.

I wish him the best in his future endeavours, where ever they may be.

Merci Djimi. Vous étiez un digne rouge.

Vive Bambi! :D

For every good moment there was an even worse one. His Semi performance against Chelski    -   his own goal disco style against Burnley.

His goal line clearance against Milan    -   Hitting the ball against Didier Shitface and then bringing him down in the box against Chelski

Hit and miss all the time with Troare.

But a good servant none the less:

All together now:

"We've got a left back called Troare,
when he plays its a different story,
His F.A Cup goal, his only glory,
We've got a left back called troare."

Good Luck.

:D :D  Good luck to Djimi. He cost us half a million and now we are try to sell him for around 1 million. The half million difference might be due to the golden champions league medal ??? :D :D
