So I'll ask Sir Roger:

Throw in for Liverpool: How do we have to set our players? should we have a fixed thrower? What are the most recurred mistakes when we take a throw in?

Throw in against Liverpool: Aren't we pressing well in these situations?

Thank you.

Whod have thought- 5 pages about throw-ins!
They must be important eh?
The concept is a bit too subtle for some it seems.

OK
Lets take it to the extreme
If throw ins are nothing more than a disruption of the flow why not just fuc.k them off?
If they are of no importance or tactical advantage then why bother claiming them?
If they cannot be used to keep possession or add to an attack then why bother taking them?
Just leave them to the opposition and set ourselves up to defend and regain possession
And then when it goes out let them take it again and do the same.
Except where we feel we have a distinct advantage or chance of scoring directly after the throw?

How say you?

nah, I'm handing in my notice and throwing in the towel on this one. :D

How to get worked up over a poxy throw-in by Sir Roger and his merry menagerie. As I said x posts ago, we lose possession via hoofed clearances, poor corners and free-kicks and just pissing passing the ball away so why get worked up over a throw-in. If the player is facing the thrower or away from goal then it's likely to be lost or go backwards, the best throw ins are when players run onto them. But Rafa is supposedly tactical genius #1 so it's up to him to decide how crucial it is and sort it.

Personally I'd rather the players worked on quick, sharp passing and the required control that means we don't lose possession that way, whilst meaning we're more likely to break open a defence

Actually here's a stat on it, 100% of Owzat has no interest in stats on throw-ins

No interest usually means no involvement

So did we win yesterday because our throw in retention and useage was vastly superior to the mancs' ?

Look at each one of our goals yesterday and you'll see that at some point in the preceding 10 minutes we successfully executed a throw-in.  Ergo, our prowess with throw-ins led us to steamroll the Mancs on their own patch yesterday.  FACT! :nod

Maybe Rafa read this thread and agreed with me then told the lads what to do?

Think see what you mean - so the player is trying to get himself a bit more space to receive the throw ? Or enable himself to run onto the ball ?

ok if you want to make it simple
