just found this, hope so :D

Sociedad leave out Xabi

Real Sociedad have left Xabi Alonso out of their squad for their latest pre-season friendly, with Liverpool and Real Madrid chasing the player.

Real Sociedad are due to play neighbours Eibar of the Segunda Division on Saturday night, but Alonso, who also missed a recent friendly against Osasuna, will not feature.

Liverpool are thought to have offered around 15m euros (£10.1m) for Alonso, but could now face competition from Real Madrid who are desperate to sign a central midfielder following the failure of their attempts to sign Arsenal's Patrick Vieira.

Madrid are rumoured to have resumed their interest in Alonso with a 12m euro (£8.1m) offer, which Real have rejected.

Meanwhile Xabi received the support of his brother Mikel, who has returned to the Real Sociedad squad following six months on loan at Numancia.

"Xabi is very intelligent and he is taking all of this very well. All I want to see happen is the best for my brother," said Mikel

Our big adanvatge is RS don't want to sell him to another Spanish club. But after that we're a  little short on leverage ???

Thats all we've got. Plus Rafa and Josemi I suppose. Wouldn't rule out Real beating us to him.

Maybe Sociedad left him out cause he is a pile of Kack!?

you never know, and i bet 99% of u have never seen him play, so how do you even know how good he is?
plus it will take him a long time to adapt to this league.

Hustler, you have no clue whatsoever do you?
La Liga has been covered extensively on Sky Sports for a few seasons now and you can watch the spanish league nearly as often as the prem. I swatched the likes of Madrid play almost as much Liverpool play last year. I HAVE seen Xabi Alonso play and his reputation is not without reason, he is a real talent.
As for leverage..well we have Raffer the Gaffer and his spanish revolution, the fact that Sociedad do not want him to go to their rivals and most importantly he fact that Sociedad still owe us money from Sander Westerveldt....that could be the clincher.

Hopefully another point in our favour will be Alonso is going to have lot more chances for 1st team footy in red shirt rather then that white one
Just hope the deal hurry up and happens so we can either get on with it or look for someone else
