buying player after player isnt the answer and im not suggesting that we do it.but we are in the midst of rebuilding a side that can possibly win the league in the next 3-5 years and by saying the right man i mean a person who comoli and kenny have done their homework on,not just buy for the sake of it.
of course if circumstances were different and we were banging in the goals this conversation wouldnt be taken place, but were not scoring as much as were creating and its down to lack of quality imo.
if lille dont make the knockouts and hazard was available do you think we would be foolish to bid? or would signing him some how hamper the team?.
3 of our strikers are over 30 and none of them have ever been prolific and while suarez is fantastic at everything else he cant convert.carroll looks like he has a lot of work to do before he comes good so i see us being short of the goals we will need to beat the competition to the top 4 this year.
your right though we are a fierce unit and a tough team to beat but were not clinical enough to turn draws into a win.

Fair enough
But every player, especially strikers are a gamble
Suarez has paid off in spades, yet Carroll has still to come good.

Still think we dont need to buy a goalscorer in Jan?

We are terrible in front of goal. After another round of fixtures here are the teams that have score more then us this season

Manchester City
Manchester United
Tottenham Hotspur
Chelsea
Arsenal
Newcastle United
Norwich City
Blackburn Rovers
Bolton Wanderers

Not good enough.

Less than Bolton? that is pathetic, the players should be ashamed of themselves, i dont blame Suarez he is relied on way to heavily, our midfield have been a joke all season going forward to be quite frank, the only attacking players who can hold there heads high are Bellamy, Maxi (who have barely been used) Suare, Johnson and Enrique, the rest of them have been distinctly average. Henderson, Downing and Carroll cost £71mil combined for christ sake!!!! they need to raise there games a.s.a.p

Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing's shots against the woodwork meant that Liverpool have hit it 12 times this season - at least fives times more than any other Premier League team

We need to try get Bellamy, Suarez and Maxi in the team every week with a Fox in the box type striker to finish the chances and get goals from nowhere.   Kuyt might be the best bet until we sign such a player.  If I was manager, Id chance the below team.

                Reina
Johnson   Skrtel  Agger   Enrique

             Henderson  Adam
Bellamy                            Maxi
                   Suarez
                     Kuyt

Yet we have a £60mil strikeforce  Carroll was bought for £35mil to be a goalscorer, if hes not there for that what the hell is he there for?

When Gerrard is back we will score more his passing his movement and he can hit them. There was 2 free kicks against fulham that if Gerrard was playing would have went in.

Suarez creates loads and loads but with no one to finish I really would like to see Suarez and kuyt up top in sure we would score plenty kuyt is a natural finisher and Suarez gets in the positions

I think Carroll is going to be dangerous in the air however when we play Carroll there's no downing to put the balls in for him

Really think these two teams would score plenty

                      Reina

Johnson.       Agger.       Skrtle.         Enrique

          Henderson.   Gerrard.      Adam

   Bellamy.          Kuyt.           Suarez

                       Reina

Johnson.       Agger.     Skrtle.      Enrique

Maxi.            Gerrard.     Adam.      Downing

                   Suarez.       Carroll

this is what makes a mockery of maxi not getting a regular run of games. 10 goals in his last 9 starts and probably the best finisher at the club.

Tottenham Hotspur
Chelsea
Arsenal
Newcastle United
Aston Villa
Norwich City
Sunderland
Blackburn Rovers
Bolton Wanderers

Is it right that we have hit the woodwork 16 times?
Is that a record?
